So is the 15% off a discount on the referb price or off the original retail price?

Either way it's a really poor "deal".

Was so tempted to upgrade from my 2013 MBP to this 2016 model w/ 460 Pro graphics card when they first announced it, but ended up holding off after reading about so many complaints from new owners over at Macrumors forum (in particular poor battery life and graphic glitches). Might just hold off until a 2017 refresh.

Looks like 15% off original retail price.

On that page, one model is advertised as:

"
$2,969.00
Save $530.00
15% off
"

But another model, with exact same spec but with upgraded Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB is priced at $3,069.00 (without the mention of Save blablabla).

So it seems that "saving" they show on specific model is not really a one-off saving but rather the regular saving for refurbs.

They make solid machines and stand by their products, but when the price of admission is ~$3,000 for a new generation of MacBook that is, in many respects, a step backwards, it definitely gives me pause (and I say this as a long-time Mac user).

Lol @ paying 3k for a laptop. I bought a refurb 17" Dell with the same specs for $500.

The touchbar is buggy af and doesn't really do that much, you lose a physical ESC button now...

Additionally you need very specific software requirements to need a Mac of these specs, for the most part it's just overkill... and I'm not a PC-only user, I've been using a MBP mid-2016 model for a while now.

Not even a corolla. The corolla lasts and preserves its value quite well. The $500 Dell... not so much.

The only way you'd get a laptop with those specs for $500, refurbished or not, is if it was off someone selling a stolen unit :P

this laptop vs a dell laptop youll still lose 6 times the taxes. it wont give more mileage at all.
wich dell department are you talking about, the consumer, gaming, business or alienware department? I believe some of their computers are made in different warehouses made for apple product as well.
this aint a hand made laptop made out of shiny leather and mahogany we're talking about are we?
try calling them without apple care see if they actually care how much you pay for your laptop..
