Good price on the 560 and 570

Hey DD, any idea what's the reason for the static prices?... I'm waitin' on a super deal too...

Maybe it's just simply being stubborn, or hoping to unload stock onto uninformed consumers, either way prices on some models have to come down... Who's going to shell out the same dollars for a 470 as opposed to a 560? There are other examples such as the badly overpriced GTX465s, but in the end it's the informed consumers that will force their hand.

Sigh, I've been wanting to upgrade my GPU for months, but I'm waiting on a good 460 GTX 1GB to hit between $125-150 range or lower WITHOUT MIR. The MSI 460 GTX 768 was tempting last month, but I'm tired of paying bloated prices on electronics ever 1-2 years. For now I'm stuck with my EVGA 7900 GTX :P .

Just don't wait too long. These MIRs and lower prices are meant to clear inventory to make room for the 560s. You might even end up paying more for another card if you're unable to get the 460 you want.

I might pull the trigger on that GTX 570, since I'm not having any luck finding a used one...

I know, my problem is I used to be an early adopter and payed out of my ass upgrading for several years, but now I'm a cheapskate. My other problem is I look at MIR's as a big scam. Lots of companies take so long to mail them out, it's like they're hoping people will forget. I've been watching Don DiGuapo's threads hoping to pull the trigger on a sweet deal. I've come close a few times, but I just haven't seen that special price yet. Almost pulled the trigger on the Sapphire 6850 for $150 on Boxing day and the MSI 460 GTX 768mb around the same time. Just couldn't do it.

Those were the two best deals in the last 2-3 months, and now the evga 1gb 460 is right up there with them, if you want a card now I'd buy it since it probably won't get cheaper for some time, and you can trust EVGA to honor their MIR.

Pulled the trigger on the MSI GTX570. I have an ati 5870 and tired of ATI's garbage drivers. So many bugs. Plus there's no CUDA support for ATI cards.

How would I go about installing the drivers on this card? Is an uninstall of the ati drivers enough or do I also need to use driver cleaner software to completely remove remnants of the uninstall?

Should I get the GTX 570 or 6950?

MSI GTX 570 after shipping and tax would be 299+tax+shiping = $350 - $20 MIR with a game

Gigabyte Radeon 2G 6950 (PMed) would be $259+tax+shipping = $303.

6950 can mostly be upgraded to a 6970 which will be almost the same as 570...

Which one should I get?

Thanks

They're both great cards and very close in performance level. Best to do a lot of googling to help you decide. If you do go for the 6950 wait a while before flashing it to a 6970, the jury is still out on how safe it is.

I would pay the extra bux and get the 570. The ati drivers are so buggy, you will wish you had bought the 570.

the flashing has been used for over a month.. and with the lifetime warranties.. and dual bios.. I'd say it's fairly safe.

true but.. how many people always stay up to date with drivers... lol I can say that not all my programs got 100 up to date.. Human's stick to what works, and don't question it.. look at the poor government management we have.. LOL doesn't really work but no one wants to bother with change.
