how accurate are these benchmarks anyways, i read on user forums some guy went from 470 to 570, and although cooler, he got less than 5 frames difference on various games.

Without knowing your setup or intended use I can only tell you that the 560 offers better value and OC headroom. (Check out this 1000mhz stock OCed Gigabyte for proof of that http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=58365 ... e=Gigabyte )

A Computer parts manufacturer.

Might not be of Asus/Gigabyte/EVGA/MSI quality, but a good bargain buy none-the-less.

I think he was originally that fortune teller guy from the Tom Hanks movie 'Big' but he since branched out to the PC hardware market.

No, you're thinking of Zoltar. Zotac may be a close relative, but not the same dude sorry. I believe Zoltar is still in the fortune telling business but I could be wrong.

570 was just on sale for $279.99 prior to this sale. I would suggest waiting til that happens again.
560 at this price is better performance per dollar, but the 570 is a much more powerful single card solution.
I mean a GT240 or HD4850 will have higher performance per dollar, but who wants those... What I mean is performance per dollar isn't everything. GTX 560 might not run some games you want to play, whereas the 570 likely will, so that might be worth paying more for. Ultimately you have to do your due diligence and read reviews and check benchies like crazy. That's what I've been doing and I still haven't decided either.
If there's another sale on the 570 I'll be picking it up, but you're right the 560 is tempting. I should just buy 2 560's ;)

I'd spend the extra $40 and get the msi, or for even better and more reputable warranty, this evga 560ti for $249.99:

I haven't forgotten it, but the op needs a complete overhaul and I haven't had the time or inclination to do it yet, but I will.

I agree, in fact I PM'd the MSI with NCIX last night.

Added 1gb GTX460 Cyclone @ $185 to op

The GTX570 with more memory and wider memory bus is better for your Dell 3007 monitor. (Your gaming at 2560x1600.)

Your coming from a GTX 470 - a high-end video card. The GTX 570 is the logical upgrade.

$150 all in.

is this a good buy?
Sorta. The 768MB version of the GTX 460 is gimped relative to the 1GB version in more than just the RAM. If you shop around, you can get a 1GB model for $160 or less.

Going from a 470 to a 570 won't be a significant improvement in performance. The 570 is just a slight evolution of the 470. You'd be wasting your money. If you have a 470 and want a new card, get a 2nd 470 for SLI or get a 580. Even the 580 will not be a massive upgrade for the $500 it'll cost. The 470 is still very fast. Its downfall is heat/noise; which is what the 570 helps fix.

Agree. Second 470 is your cheapest and most significant upgrade. 470 -> 570 will be an upgrade, maybe 20% (game dependent), but not worth the money because it renders your 470 useless. You can get used 470 online for under $200 shipped now, and that would increase your performance much more than a single 570.
