It is heavily discounted but as the review says on the Source website, it's only two outlets which is kind of crappy. $180 regular price is extremely outlandish.

I hope you're not surprised.

Most RFDers who clicked on this title probably expected anything but a real deal.

The Source might want to include a free Bose with it for some effective cross selling.

Actually I fully expected a deal. Monster's actual PowerCenters, huge ones that look like a big dvd player, are great if they're 50-70% off their MSRP :P

And that's why I said "most RFDers" ...

even at 50-70% off I disagree. I owned a "high-end" Monster Power filter years ago  and it stopped working within 3 years. Belkin has lifetime warranty, Monster no longer does so it was an expensive lesson.

Yes but the Belkin doesn't do any filtering, it's just a surge protector.

Belkin too has a high-end rack-mount filters that cost hundreds, so it's not like those are unique to Monster. What Belkin doesn't have are regular power bars with any kind of filtering.

That said, at $45 (apparently has been down to $40 on boxing day) for a two outlet Monster "Clean Power" model, you're probably better off buying a Tripp-Lite Isobar, a 6 outlet version is seen here on Amazon.com, for $56 US, for example...

Edit: Actually there's what might be an even better AVBAR10 Isobar model, for $60, which more outlets, more coax, and ethernet (not sure if it's gigabit compatible though):
http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-AVBAR1 ... 47&sr=1-12

or without the cable and phone protection for $45 US:
http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-ISOBAR ... 547&sr=1-3

4 and 8 outlet models are also available, cheaper and more expensive, respectively. 2-outlet "on top of outlet" plug in models are also available from $15-$25 on Amazon.com...

Two outlets? Really?

This is a laughable product at any price above $10.

IMO you really need an ISObar or a power filter / clean power gimmick if you want to turn on your vaccum (or any electrics that demands high power on startup) when you are watching a movie or playing with the home threatre.

When I switch on the vaccum my whole room lights will dim a little and when I swtich it off the lights will go back to normal. That ISO bar / power filter / clean power will probably elimate that all together. That's about it. Forget about improving image / sound quality.

That being said, I rather have a good UPS to protect my equipment against blackouts/brownouts.

It challenges me what 2 devices should go with this wonderful HOME THEATRE POWERCENTER:

1. VCR
2. a Zenith tube tv

I wasn't aware they no longer have lifetime warranty. Nevermind my comment then.

Belkin PureAV units do have power filtering. Even the basic PureAV surge protectors have "power filter tech"
http://www.belkin.com/PureAV.process?Section_Id=202496
This is as basic as it gets and lifetime warranty, power filtering, ridiculous $75,000 connected equipment warranty

PunkeyDoodles Corner…
Good info on the Monster not having lifetime anymore.

Now there's absolutely NO way even for $10 that I'd buy their crap.

Belkin is takin the accessory market by storm indeed!
