[Staples] Acer Revo AR3610 4GB/500gb/Atom 330 - 297$ at Staples

I was looking at the stock we had left, and it turns out there are a few Aspire Revo nettops left at a few Staples locations for 297$. The store's cost is 417$, which means they lose a lot. It's the 4GB/500GB/Atom330/ION model, which is perfect for a nice, cheap XBMC setup. It seemed like a very quiet machine, too.

The 6-digit code we use to track products. This way you can have the salesman pull out the inventory without a hassle even if the item is discontinued.

Yes, and dgege is pointing out that you didn't provide it.

I would call it warm given that you can build a considerably better D525 box (at a comparable price .. excluding OS). D525 is about 15% faster on every single application you will use that doesn't involve vedio acceleration (which should be the same on 330 or D525),
If its meant to be an XMBC box then Windows is not a factor any way.

I doubt cost is 417. That nettop was priced at 397 for a real long time at my staples.

You probably got the AR3600 (which I also have) for that price--Atom 230, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD.

This is a hot deal for the 330-4-500 model..........

If only we had the SKU.

Meh.

I know the form-factor is small; I sold mine about a month-plus ago. Regardless, I don't know if three-bills is "a good deal" on this as it's only useful for HD media playback. Trying to surf (especially with Flash sites) was painful at best - even with an update. I found it "dragged" considerably.

For a couple of hundred more, you can have a true HTPC (albeit a little bigger) that will do a lot more - including HD audio bistreaming which the AR3610 *can't* do. To me, I'd rather have the slightly larger footprint.

Got one from Burlington at $297 + Tax . but I am going to return it. this is the last one, it is open box. I could not find keyboard and mouse, Manager told me that this unit does not come with mouse or keyboard. after I was home, did some googling and found that this unit should have keyboard and mouse. this made the deal not even warm. will return to store next Tuesday. thanks for the information though.

Yup.. over a year ago the 2GB model was 300ish.. this would have been a hot deal if it had been dropped down to 200 to clear out.

What ever happened to the 3700? Never really saw any great deals for that one. Maybe a new revo with AMD fusion would be perfect for HTPC use.

Could someone tell me why people are still purchasing these for XMBC/HTPC use at that price? Why not purchase a netbook with C-50 or even C-30 processor and decent GPU? They can be had for less and have a decent screen. Pull the cable and it goes with you.

Not trying to thread crap but these Nettops should be alot cheeper!

I guess the primary reason is they really want something stationary.. I can definitely say in the past that this $300 nettop with Atom 330 + nvidia Ion was a better deal than any netbook for HTPC use.

This year will be pretty interesting if we see some of these small sigma based streamers that have XBMC built in. Also there's the Apple TV that can be jailbroken and have XBMC installed (not perfect with its hardware, but still insane to see XBMC running quite smoothly on a tiny & silent $119 device).
