Apple warranty

Does anyone know if apple warranty(default/extended) covers internationally? I'm planning to buy an ipad2 from US apple store as a gift for my brother who is in Singapore. So, I'm wondering if Apple Singapore would honor warranty for this item if anything happens. I thought about buying it from Singapore Apple store, but the rumour said Apple wouldn't release it until June. And also, I appreciate much if anyone could recommend a good reliable package forwarding service to Singapore.

The best source for this information would be Apple. I suggest emailing Apple Singapore/US that way you have something in writing to fall back on.

I know that apple warranty only exist in the country where you brought it. If USA then only apple USA warrant it.

Use white out and write Canada where it says on the Barcode USA.

LOL, if I can travel to the states to buy it, I should be able to travel to the states for warranty. Luckily I have family that is addicted to gambling and shopping so going to the Falls Casino and the states is a very common thing. You could always give me yours if it should break down. (not implying that I would take it for you to get fixed, just take it from you and keep it) Or if you hold it too tightly and the battery fails.

I don't know, its a slow day, I'm trying to think of more cleverer things to say...

I don't think that is true.

My understanding is that the warranty is global - if the country you are getting warranty service in carries that product. ie. If the iPad 2 is due to be realeased in Singapore in June, they will honor the warranty in Singapore beginning in June.

* at least, that's how it worked for the 1st gen iPad

From my experience, AppleCare is international (as long as you can legally get service in that country, ie, no countries with embargoes). Not sure about limited warranty (though I can't imagine they'd hassle you about it)

incorrect.

however, they won't honour warranty on an AT&T iPhone in Canada AFAIK.

That would probably be because the device is bought at a subsidized price, as opposed to full price. However, I'm sure that if a person who legitimately is using the AT&T phone, but was on a trip to Canada and went into an Apple Store with a problem, they wouldn't be refused service if it was still unter warranty.

as per Apple.ca

Apple or its Apple Authorised Service Providers will provide warranty service on products that are tendered or presented for service during the Warranty Period, as permitted by law. If the product is portable, meaning that it can operate independently without a power cord, you may obtain warranty service worldwide. However, service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. If the product is not portable, warranty service may be restricted to the country where the product is purchased. Service options, parts availability and response times will vary according to country. You may be responsible for shipping and handling charges if the product cannot be serviced in the country it is in.

Sorry for late reply;I was too busy. Anyway, thanks all for all your replies. I decided to buy from Apple canada instead after reading reports from some people experiencing minor defects such as light bleeding and yellow spot on the screen from yet to dry glue. Better test it before I ship it to my bro.
