have any of you used somethign different for your recycling, other than the standard blue boxes?
Ours suck...their small so we have to use 3 of them (sometimes could use more), they crack easily, and by being completely open at the top, we cant put them out at night due to the animals getting into everything.

Can I use a garbage can instead and just put a big "Recycling" sticker on it or something?

Reminder - The bag you use may not be larger than 66 cm (26 in.) wide and 90 cm (36 in.) in height and cannot exceed a weight of 20 kg (44 lb.)

Also is if the blue box breaks
"Additional Blue Boxes may be purchased at various locations in Peel, or bring in your broken blue box for a replacement.

Thanks for that info!

I'll at least see about replacing my cracked boxes (reg size).

I really wouldnt buy new boxes just b/c their bigger.. animal resistance properties are worth more to me than capacity, kind of surprising that noones come out with a model that solves this issue.

my folks live in the suburbs and they leave their blue box outdoors. they rinse thing out before putting them in the box and it the critters don't seem to bother with the box at all - they are (the animals that is), however, interested in the regular/organic garbage. so for that we built a shed for the garbage bins at the side of their house.

I use the bags. You can get different sizes. The town I moved to recomanded bags to keep the town cleaner. We get some nasty winds here so I can see why they want us to use bags. I haven't had any animals try to tear through them during the night.

Thats surprising....here in my part of Miss, they topple over garbage cans, tear into garbage bags, and make a terrible mess, pretty much anytime temps are above freezing and garbage/recycling is put out at night. I think our coon population is fairly dense here...I think I may have 1 or 2 living underneath our deck.
