The article is actually poorly written. "only AM3+ sockets will support bulldozer" would be a better title, since am3+ will support pre bulldozer am3 CPUs.

No surprise there, but its still amazing that AMD has managed to retain this level of continuity. Although, really, who just replaces a CPU alone on a motherboard anyways???

They also don't support DDR3 higher than 1333 but it runs anyway. USB 3 isn't officially supported by Intel and it works on mobos. It's all about mobo makers.

Intel is similar on the ram. You have to OC processor to us ram greater than 1333.

Maybe Intel isn't pushing USB3.0 because they have thunderbolt. Would like to see future Intel chipsets support that.

USB3 on the Intel motherboards is derived from a 3rd party (usually NEC) chipset. The support isn't derived from Intel's silicon.

That's exactly the point. Even if AMD says they don't officially support it, who cares because ASUS and Gigabyte and the rest of the mobo makers will provide "hacks" that are very effective work arounds just like they have provided "hacks" and workarounds for the features that Intel and AMD don't officially support. yeah Intel doesn't want to push USB 3 because they have thunderbolt but they can't do anything if all the enclosure manufacturers, case manufacturers, and motherboard manufacturers push for USB3.
