XPS if you intend to play games. Otherwise Lenovo all the way. And there's Lenovo discounts like 30+%.

I do play games not that often. I wish there was discount offered for w520.

Seems kinda expensive or is that just me? Have you looked at Asus laptops?

Go with Lenovo of course. There are plenty of thinkpad discount codes out there, especially in this forum. Or subscribe emails from Lenovo website. Often, they will send you an email when the deals come up. Believe me, it's way much better to have a thinkpad.

I just got an XPS 15 (L502X). In the end my decision came down to XPS, Lenovo, or HP Envy. I ended up getting the XPS because I felt I got the most bang for my buck (the envy was too expensive).

My XPS 15 specs:

i7 2630qm
6 gigs of ram
500gb 7200rpm HD
1080p RGBLED screen
backlit keyboard
HD webcam
nvidia 525m video card
9 cell battery

A similarly spec'd Lenovo cost more (even after the coupons) with a previous gen i7 processor, so in the end I went with the XPS (and when I checked coupons didn't work with newer gen processors, although that could've changed by now). I also didn't have the option of a 1080p RGBLED display, which was another dealbreaker. The screen is awesome, although it's a $150 upgrade - well worth it IMO.

Just a heads up, don't bother with the 540m video card. It'll be $100 bucks wasted since the 540m is the same as the 525m, just clocked higher. You're better off spending the money on some good thermal paste and a notebook cooler and then just OC'ing the video card to meet (or pass) the 540m.
