Updates to Login System and Brief Downtime on April 20th [Archive]

We wanted to give everyone a heads up that we’ll be rolling out an updated login system starting on April 20th. The update will result in brief downtime on Wednesday, April 20th between 9AM and 11AM eastern. We have updated our login system so you can now sign into RedFlagDeals.com, YellowPages.ca, and future Yellow Pages Group sites with a single username and password or with Facebook Connect.

As a result, you will be prompted at some point in the future to update your account to allow this new functionality. In some cases you may be prompted to verify your existing account by entering your e-mail address and password. If you have forgotten your password please click here: http://www.redflagdeals.com/user/index.php?action=resetpw to reset your password.

If you are having any difficulties logging in or have any concerns, please contact us at support@redflagdeals.com and we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can.

You don't have to sign in with your Facebook. We are giving people who want to sign in with Facebook the option to do so.

Did RFD get upgraded? I was somehow signed out of RFD and just signed back in. Noticed there's a Connect with Facebook button now.

I just got the prompt to sign in and it didn't go well. I can't get in by using my RFD username and password, I get an error page. I did get in by going through FB though and linking accounts.... not that I wanted to. :cry:

Wasn't smooth for me either. Had to reset my password based on email, it couldn't find me by username.

Took about an hour and numerous attempts to log-in using my RFD username/password. I have zero interest logging in using my FB account - too much personal info in doing so and I do not want Yellow Pages having any info on me other than my junk mail email account.

I input my usual name (_Allan_) and my password, and I'm logged in as "Dallany" ... something SERIOUSLY wrong here RFD Admins!

Apparently, on any part of the site, except forums, I am logged in as "_Allan_" ... however, when I come into the forums, I get 'switched' with Dallany (I'm guessing it's because "Allan" appears in "Dallany")

To those having problems, logged into the wrong accounts, etc... Email support@redflagdeals.com and explain exactly what has happened. Only the admins can deal with this.

Had to clearn Chrome, IE9, and Fx4 cookies. (That's a lotta tasty cookies wasted. :P )
Shut down all three browsers and now, I'm back as me.

Just to confirm - when you logged out did you see the new Login area, with the Facebook connect?

I unLiked the RedFlagDeals on Facebook because of this new Login issue. It reminded me, that RFD has become somewhat mercenary in motivation. This is the first forum, I ever signed up to.

Stay away from my FaceBook page, Yellow pages group. :mad:

The "facebook login" is actually not linked to the RedFlagDeals facebook page. It just allows you to easily sign into the website and going forward will allow you to use that same login across YPG's other properties. You don't even have to facebook connect, in which case you are essentially unaffected :)

wow, what a stupid new login system

after trying a whole bunch of times i figured out that i can't use my username to login, only my email. wtf?! >:(

aside from it being completely ******** idiotic to have to use your email to login to websites that you also have a username on, the login page unhelpfully claims you *can* actually log in with your username. not only did I have to figure out why my password wasn't working, but I also had to figure out what email I used for this website. just what I need in my day, extra hassle for something that should just work :mad:
