View Full Version : AMC Group Purchase - Info

Since the summer movie season is upon us, I have not seen anyone doing an AMC or Cineplex group purchase lately.

Are we interested?

UPDATE: May 3, 2011
INFORMATION

Looking at the order form, we need to have a minimum order of 50 and then additional bundles of 50. Tickets are priced at $8 each. Overnight shipping to me is $18 plus the shipping charge to you. This is for the AMC Gold Tickets (one admission; no restrictions; no expiration date; 3D and IMAX surcharge applies). These are adult tickets.

So I would guess if we for example had 100 tickets the cost per ticket would be $8.18 plus the mailing cost to your house. The more tickets, the less the price. Not sure what the cost for shipping to each person as it would depend on how many tickets an individual would order.

Standard AMC Adult pricing:
$12.75 after 12:00 p.m.
$10.50 Movie Watcher Pricing
$5 upcharge for RealD 3D
$5 upcharge for IMAX
$5 upcharge for IMAX 3D

Alrighty. I have never done one myself. If the folks who have done it before either want to do it again or provide advice, I might not mind organizing this time out.

Cineplex Odeon/Famous Players regular adult ticket is $7.99 everyday except Tuesday when it's $4.99. Throw in $3.00 for the 3D glasses. Only way I can get this lower is using the iCoke or other free passes. This is what the market will bear here which is why outfits like Empire theatres bypasses us when they are putting in new theatres. Sorry to hear you guys are paying so much for a night out at the movies...

Does not seem to be enough interest yet to get this under way. We need numbers and anyone know how we can get this thread into the hot deals section for more exposure?

I'd be in for 20-30 tix, I can't send the chedar until after a few days May long weekend.
Since you stated there would be a tiered system, what is the cost for those who order more tix?
I.E. A person who ordered 50 tix, would pay slightly less per ticket than person ordering 10 tix.

Keep me posted

Slightly less but not much to fight over. If one can figure the economics of each order, then I am all ears. However, if I am the one who is going to put the order through I am not about to to figure out each and every order.

^ we should keep it equalized for everyone so that its fair.

It was always like that.

That being said, the more people that join in, the cheaper it is going to be for everyone since the shipping charges will get distributed down even further.

i.e. $8.36 per ticket for 50 tickets ordered
$8.18 per ticket for 100 tickets ordered
$8.12 per ticket for 150 tickets

I totally agree with you, but people who buy more tix shouldn't subsidize the cost of tix /shiping for all people who decide to purchase tix. I've been part 2 AMC + cineplex gb's and thats usually the way its done, for every 10 tix you buy, your pay less per ticket. The more tix you buy the cheaper your tix are. A person who buys 50 ix shouldn't be paying the same as a person buying 10 tix. But it can be tough to figure out the breakdowns and even tougher at times for all parties involved to agree, so i'm cool with the price you guys agree on once we figure
out how many tix we'll need.

I know some people on the thread want cheaper shipping for buying in bulk. I think the differences are minimal especially if you are using regular canada post mail.

The easiest way would be to calculate tickets and shipping costs uniformly in increments of 10 tickets.

Check out this previous group buy as an example

please dont let this die down, guess we are gunning for at least a 100 tix
of course if we manage to go for 150+ tix then we get to save a further 6 cents per tix, would rather donate savings to mr gambit whose arranging it
and yes, Im a cheap bastard

I am very interested in 10 Cineplex tickets if you still need people. But a little confused - are AMC and Cineplex passes the same?

This is like asking if Burger King and McDonalds are the same just because they make burgers. The cinema business isn't different from any industry, it still have rival chains competing against each other. You can try using AMC passes at Cineplex but you will get rejected or vice versa.

We have reached 100 tickets.
Let get this group buy moving. Postal workers will be back to work next week, so the timing is perfect.

Okay, thanks for the reply. I guess I was a bit confused because people are talking about both in this thread. But if this thread is for AMC tickets, then I DO NOT want any. I apologize for my confusion if it led to any problems for OP. We don't have those theatres around me.
