Premieres this month on Seven Network.... and a torrent near you.

They actually filmed the same time as Unfinished Business, and the Aussie teams were mistaken for US TAR when they were in Singapore. The Aussie teams are actually racing for an Express Pass on the first leg, so it seems they're following US TAR's format, but with the same production team as The Amazing Race Asia.

Looking forward to the Bowling Mom clones and the Muslim brothers.... he's so honest :

“People might think there’s something suspicious about two young Arab Muslim men running around madly with backpacks on,” adds Mo, 26. “I would say that 70 per cent of the time I get stopped for random security checks in airports.”

Just watched the first 30 seconds... they didn't spare any expense in the cinematography. And a helicopter entrance to the MCG for each team no less.

TAR-Asia has the same production team (Active TV), but its production values are held back by Sony's wallet. And Grant Bowler = Phil's wardrobe + Allan Wu's hand gestures :D

Every single one of them is white except for the two Muslim guys, and even they're pretty white-looking. I thought Australia was supposed to be somewhat diverse?

Goddamit! When the hell will we get an Amazing Race: Canada?

We're the most traveled country in the world, so it would be more of a challenge.

But yeah, i will watch this show, if i can find a download.

This series has very high production values. The cut-scenes of the racers in the intro look like they were taken from an actual film or music video. And they have animated graphics for the Roadblocks, Detours, Route Markers, etc... something that US TAR haven't done. Even the Google Maps flight track looks a lot better than US TAR.

What's weird is how they basically re-did the TARA4 leg in Indonesia. But it's so much more polished second time around for the ActiveTV production crew. Sony's such a tightwad. Less prize money for the Asian series, less budget for the same production team, but far more product placements. Like the Oz series is sponsored by Canon, but they just had that lead-in promo, not something actually within the show.

Liking all the teams at the moment except for the creepy brother/sister team.

IIRC we have CTV to blame for that for that since they technically "own" the rights to create a Canadian version hence Canadians can't join the US Amazing Race.

You think so? Looks like they have a similarly-large gay quotient as the latest US one, going off the photo.

Wonder if they use Men At Work's "Down Under" as the show's theme tune?

Canada has such a wealth of interesting cities and geographic locations that it's a crime that there hasn't been a Canadian TAR or Survivor yet. Our TV audience should be at least as large as that of many European countries that have their own shows, and is certainly larger than Australia's. It should be easy to market Canadian versions to oversees audiences too, since many people at this point know friends or relatives who moved to Canada. But if we don't have shows like this to maintain overseas awareness of us, we run a risk of becoming comparatively forgotten, especially compared to well-publicised countries like Oz.

It doesn't make financial sense for CTV to buy Canadian franchising rights and spend even more to produce said spin-off. It's just cheaper for them to buy a US series than to produce one on their own.

When a company like Sony is so cheap with TAR Asia, I don't expect CTV to do any better.

The models team is awesome. They're like searching for the longboat with the highest engine horespower before choosing which one to hop on. That's the type of smart racing that I've never seen on any version of TAR.

And outside of the F Word, I love how they don't censor any other profanity from the racers.

Yeah, new episode tonight.

Apparently, all TAR-Australia episodes are an hour and a half long.... to meet Aussie content standards.

Nevermind a Canadian version of the series, I don't even think the US one has done an episode in Canada.

I watched the first episode, seems alright. The US one is definetely better though, and Phil kicks this new guy's ***** as a host.

Anybody notice in Ep 3, with the task where you had to break 6 clay plates, that one of the surfer dudes was telling his friend how to punch, but he did it with his thumb tucked beneath his fingers?

I'm 1 week behind on the show, but they need to cast more contestants like Joey on regular TAR. She's easily the most hyper-competitive racer since Mirna in any TAR series. Completely rubbing all the teams the wrong way....

Yeah, I watched a few seasons of TAR: ASIA but it looks like they have a TAR: China too (RUSH or something?).. I saw it posted on youtube. There is a channel there with all of the different world versions. Even a version from Israel but it is in Hebrew..... The China one is in English or English subs...

It seems like the non-american ones have harder challenges...
