Just read on Chowhound and confirmed on various sites throughout the internet including this one:

That M-Brgr is now closed in Toronto. Time to contact Wagjag and get your coupon refunded if you haven't redeemed it yet.

I'm glad this happened. I bought 2 vouchers, used 1, and regret buying 2. This place is just too expensive. Even with voucher, it's probably still more expensive than your average burger joint after tax and tip.

Nice decor is a waste imo. When I think burgers, I don't think "classy". This kind of concept doesn't work in Toronto. Montreal folks are more hip. Toronto folks are more about getting their bang for their buck. Plus, there are enough existing burger joints, and those are cheaper and of similar quality.

I tried the Kobe beef burger. I chose about $5 worth of toppings so it was a $25 burger (more like $30 after tax and tip) Was it good? Yes. Was it $25-good? No.

Thanks OP for the heads up! Asking for refund now.

Kobe beef patty is $20 each. It's a special kind of meat grown in Japan. I actually think Kobe beef's price is ok. Not good. Just okay since it's rare in Canada. It's their toppings that are outrageous. Seriously, these geniuses try to charge you $2-5 for a squirt of cheese or sauce.

If you think $25 is a lot for a burger, wait till you see their $100 burger. 2 Kobe beef patties plus all their most expensive toppings. It comes out to $100 + tax and tip.

Wow! I could think of better ways to spend a $100 than a burger... I'll stick with Licks for my "more expensive" burger. :)

I actually ordered the $39 burger (the one with fois gras/kobe/shaved truffles) and while it was okay I actually preferred the Burger Priest burgers. The reason why I got the expensive burger was because after hearing the place kind of sucked I didn't want to bring a friend and end up spending more money. Figured I would minimize my "loss" and try something I would never order normally and to judge for myself.

Why doesn't Fabfind take a PROACTIVE step and refund everyone that has bought a voucher for this deal. That is one thing I find about all of these deal sites. They wait for people to approach THEM about a refund instead of automatically doing it. Actually, only one website has auto-refunded me because of a business going under. Teambuy when the the Czar spot went under.

Merchants are responsible for tracking redemptions, so it becomes problematic for us to send out refunds to all customers. We will be implementing a solution to this in the near future, but in the interim this is the way we must proceed. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Weird. It's Montreal counterpart is pretty popular!

That is understandable but the issue is that customers will go to the restaurant assuming the restaurant is still open to redeem the voucher they bought and they will get out there to only find the place has closed down. I really do hope you update your system (where restaurants can more easily inform you back when vouchers have been redeemed for example.... ) because right now it sounds like it would leave you open to fraud too by customers when these type of businesses go under..

Most sites like these do not know when the voucher is redeemed. Only the businesses know. I don't think these businesses have time to call in to let these deal sites know that te voucher is redeemed.

All they care is that the coupon does not get reused.

This is just like rebates, some people think they are getting a deal from a mail in rebate but a lot of the times there are some that don't even send their claims in.

I'm sure some businesses will be happy if you forget to redeem your coupons. Money saved for them. This is why I believe they leave it up to the consumer to keep track of their coupons.

I know that with Groupon my vouchers get marked as "used" after I actually use them. There were 2 that didn't get indicated as used, I guess maybe the business didn't update so I manually cancelled/used it on their system. I like that much better... It makes me want to shop at Groupon more often as it is an easier system to keep track of.

Until you implement the new solution, you should send a mass email (either to all people who purchased the deal or to all FabFind users) that the place has closed and to email you for a refund should they have unused vouchers. This way, no one will be surprised when they show up and realize the place has closed down and have to worry about whether they will get a refund or not.
