Hi,
Picked up a D90 and would like to get a prime lens for it? Any recommendations?

the 35mm 1.8 is pretty good, on the D90 it is equivilent to 50mm on a full body, which is about the same field of vision you would see with your eyes.

What kind of prime lens are you looking for? Henry's I think has a 300 or 400 mm prime lens on sale, costs a bit more than some of their other lenses

I have the AS-S 35mm F/1.8G DX and I love it. I use it on my D40.
Since you use the D90, you might also check the AF 50mm F/1.8D.
Both have an amazing bokeh, unless you want to drop more $$ and get a F/1.4.

Don't need a af-s as I spent the extra on the d90 as opposed to a body without auto focus.

i would recommend the af-s 35mm 1.8, i understand you have spent extra for the in-body auto focus motor D90 has, but still, for the equiv. of 52.5 focal length it will be more of a walkaround prime.
if you pick af 50mm 1.8, you might find it too long sometimes when you factor in the 1.5X crop.
you can't go wrong on either choice though, but it will highly depend on what you want to shoot, more of a walkaround or portrait?

i would not recommend the 50mm 1.8D
i would recommemd the the 35mm f/1.8G
i would also recommend the 50mm f/1.8G
the G lenses are worth it

The G versions of the 50 mm f1.4 and f1.8 lenses are sharper then their D version counterparts at the wide-open end.
