Error code 1 on my 60D with this lens. I did some research and found that if I have Stabilizer turned off it works fine. Does anyone know any place I can get this fixed other then from Canon in which they want 150 bucks plus shipping :(

I'm assuming the lens it out of warranty?
You're in Thornhill, check out Sun Camera. On Steeles between Dufferin and Keele.
Give them a call and they will quote a fix price for you.
I had the IS unit replaced in my 17-55IS way back and it was close to $300 for the fix. Considering the price of a used 17-85, it may not be worth fixing.
But you can drop it off to them and they will estimate and quote before staring any repairs.
Highly recommended.

Sweet Sun Camera said it would be $132 to repair. Not sure what is wrong with it but meh it's much better then buying a new lens.
