Ryan

We are upgrading the hardware that hosts the main page tonight. It shouldn't effect the forums at all. Just something to be aware of if you are trying to access it.

Access the forums using:

Another upgrade? Good stuff!
RFD must be doing really well right now.

Whats the reason this time.

The upgrade is done, but the DNS has yet to update. Should be seamless.

The main page was getting a bit slow, so we upgraded so it would have room to grow.

Is this why I'm getting "The page cannot be displayed" when I tried to post on the main page comments?

Same with the forums. Have to press back and click submit again to make sure it posts. At least the forums don't lose what I typed.

Well we didn't do anything to the forums, so I think they are unrelated.

Strange I've been getting quite a few of those "page can't be displayed" as well. Since yesterday morning.

Update: And again, just now. It happens when I summit a reply. The post get posted, but I don't get forward back to the thread.

Update 2nd: And again when I just made the first update...

I have been getting that as well, "page can't be displayed, the post gets posted, but I don't get forwarded back to the thread."

The only thing it could be is a DNS propagation problem, cause nothing else was changed. We didn't do anything on the forums.

no, the http://www.redflagdeals.com redirects u to http://www.redflagdeals.com/deals/main.php/info/splash

Ryan

yeah, but on the splash page I mean. The first "deal" is "Welcome to the new server" at least it will be if you ISP has updated their DNS. I don't know why it would cause a problem, but I suppose it could.

Yes, I see it, currently with 3 comments.

Wow, 4 dual xeon servers? Damn! Spread the news, who's our secret high-power sponsors? IBM? HP? Dell?

What ISP are you guys with? i'm with Rogers (still waiting for that stinkin modem). Maybe it's a Rogers problem.

it wasn't there when i first posted, used Control-F to search "server" and nothing turned up. and now it is there, so yay then!

Really? Still?

I don't think this is related to the server upgrade. This glitch seems to come up every once in a while, lasts for a week and then disappears. I'm at a loss to explain it.

Anybody with VB have any ideas?

Ryan, did you find out what the problem might be?

Here's a wild guess:
Are some of the forwarding done with "/forums/"?
I notice that we don't have "/forums/" anymore, and it's just directly to forums.redflagdeals.com
Could that be the problem?

We were upgrading some software last night.

I don't think the /forums thing could be causing it because that is a universal setting in VB and it should have changed automatically.

I'll let you know if I still run into the problem.
Today, it seems to be ok.

i'm getting the problem again during my last 2 posts. It happens from time to time. I'm still on the same ISP, should be switching to Bell by next week.
