Hi,

A few days ago I bought a new digital camera, a Samsung ST700. I bought it for my upcoming trip to England but I am not happy with it. The battery only lasts for just over two hours. This will not work for me on my trip etc. It has its own rechargable battery inside. Do you think I will have any problems returning it for this reason? Will they tell me this is not a valid reason to return it? I bought it from Bestbuy. It also freezes for no apparent reason.

How did you calculate 2 hours? Did you have the camera on continuously for 2 hours?

The first time I used it I was at a work event taking pictures. I started at 9am and by 11.15am the battery warning came on and soon after it died. I did not have it on all the time. I turned it off when not in use. The next day I was at another event and was taking lots of pictures between 2pm and 4.30pm turning the camera on and off and again the battery died. Yesterday I was out with it taking pictures from 9am to 12pm, turning it on and off between usage and the warning message came on at 12pm saying battery low etc.

I think a better question to ask is how many pictures did you take on average during each of those 2 hour intervals?

On the first day I took around 40, second day around 30 and yesterday about 35 or so. That does not mean I was turning the camera on and off over and over again etc. My old cheap digital camera that used AA batteries had no problems at all lasting for ages, it was a 10 mp camera. This new one is a 16 mp camera but I was using it on a lower mp setting to test yesterday.

+1

As long as you're in the 14 day return period they'll be okay with it.

Buy a decent camera. You spend thousands of dollars to travel, a good camera can cherish those moments.

I returned the camera. I had kept every single sticker and bag it came with. They had no problem taking it back. I bought a good camera instead :-)

Bestbuy is a no question ask return. But they still ask you why you are returning it. But just say you aren't satisfy and they have to return you your money unless you are missing stuff.

should be no problem, just make sure there's nothing missing
