Sometimes I just visit the home page to see deals and leave, going back to the forums, everything has been marked read!

Thanks Oranr, please let me know if this is actually an 'issue' and not the way the forums work.

If you mean visiting any RFD page outside the forums, then yes, that's the way it works.
It's been an annoyance for a looooooooooooong time at RFD!
I've learned to check every link before clicking on it in one of the subforums, as if it's a link to any RFD page not in a forum, BAM! All threads marked as read!

There should be a fix, forums are forums. :(

Of course there should be a fix... whether it becomes a priority or not, that's the question!

It's not caused (solely) by visiting the front page. I link directly to the forum front page, and sometime it'll mark all threads read simply by visiting a sub-forum. I've gotten in to the habit of checking Hot Deals before I check my subscribed threads for fear of losing the new posts.

I've never had the problem by visiting a sub-forum, but it happens with any RFD link that's not specifically a forum page.

Happens to me about 40% of time starting about a week or so ago.

Hah! This isn't a new issue... it's been happening (at least when using Firefox) for at least a year.

It happened move often from a year ago to about 3 months ago when they identified a fault and addressed it. Now the problem is slightly different in the fact that the initial page is fine but as soon as you go into a subforum (or posting thread), everything past the initial page is marked read.

Yeah, really annoying especially since I do not leverage the subscribed feeds feature. I usually browse what I need to in one go.

I'm pretty sure that's not quite what's happening. Next time when you land on the initial page that's fine, try F5 to refresh the page... I bet you'll see that that page is marked read already.
When this happens to me, the initial page looks fine, but when I click on any thread, I'm taken to the last post in the thread... telling me that the thread (along with all others) has already been marked as read. I can verify this by refreshing the subforum page and seeing that all threads are then unbolded.

Agreed! :D
Now... if we could only get search results fixed: opposite behaviour, in that any result NOT read in the current visit shows as unread.
