So I had no idea where to put this thread, but I'm looking to pick up a couple lens for my dslr before me and my fiance go on our honeymoon, particularly I'm looking to pick up a 50mm portrait lens and a 10-22 wide angle lens, both canon. I've tried finding some deals in the states but i'm not having much luck, so what do you guys think?

Pick up in Canada, or try to pick up in the States? We are headed to Vegas.

Assuming you are shooting on canon equipment?

If it's a hobby. Buy used. I used to say buy used all the time. But after seeing how badly the rear weather seal on some L lenses are 2nd hand I am revising that to if you need a lens that's going to work in the rain (only some L lenses are seal fyi), new or, newly used is key.

Ebay

I am listing based on my preference and availability.

If the lens is cheap and you can take the risk you can have US sellers ship without insurance (don't use UPS ground they'll rip you off on customs fees) and some skullduggery on the customs forms to save you a few $$.

If you must buy new the best choice is of course going outside. We are still being ripped off on lenses.

I dissagree that we are getting ripped off on price difference, agree we are getting ripped off on price though. check out that photoprice.ca site, there are alot of lenses on par now or only off by a hundred or so dollars. Worth buying locally for insurance and service purposes. Some lenses are rediculasly different like the 28mm USM for Canon. $500 compared to $700
