What's the situation like regarding free/cheap day or night RV parking in the Algonquin Park-Sudbury-Sault Ste. Marie-Timmins region?

Where do people typically park overnight to save money?

They park at the nearest Wal Mart.

Yup. They are the only store that will tolerate rv parking. You can get away with it at some other grocery stores as long as you only stay overnight. (from store close to open)

I read not every Walmart allows it.

I also read about confusion among Walmart employees regarding the allowance of this practice.

And just out of curiosity, how common are Walmarts up north? I imagine they may be pretty sparse.

Didnt knew you owned one. Wow, I always wanted a RV, you could pretty much save so much money on hotel costs + having all your stuff nearby.

Anyways dont you feel discriminated when using it? Like everyone wants one, but nobody wants on in their backyard.

There are Walmarts in North Bay, Sudbury, and the Sault. As far as Algonquin Park you are going to have to pay unless you want to fake a flat tire on Highway 60 and spend the night that way.
