Great show!

Fyi, much of the filming is done in downtown Toronto. Many of the scenes are filmed in the little garden between the Bay Adelaide Centre and South of Temperance. Also right beside the Scotia building. Many of the scenes in the building are the Bay Adelaide Center as well.

Just like the rest of you, I watched the first 9 episodes back to back and they were amazing. Suits is now at the top of my list of must watch shows along with Game of Thrones and Fringe.

Captivating, witty, funny, every single character is absolutely lovable and have a good role on the show. The premise of the show is solid as well with a major angle (Mike's secret) that can be played in so many ways.

Also a plus that it's filmed in Toronto as well as I love areas that are identifiable when I watch my shows. Makes it feel less superficial and more relatable.

Started watching this about a week or so ago, through the first 6-7 episodes, the show is fantastic. Glad to hear it's been picked up for a 2nd season.

Anyone else watching Franklin and Bash along with this? That one has been pretty good as well (done the 1st season).

Anyone else watching Franklin and Bash along with this? That one has been pretty good as well (done the 1st season).

Seen the commercials for Franklin and Bash and it didn't really suck me in. Seemed like just a normal comedy about lawyers without any interesting premise. I'm sure the show is really more elaborate, but their commercial previews didn't really show much besides the two lawyers being sleazy.

Suits on the other hand, did an excellent job with their commercials. It was centered around the major plot (Mike being a lawyer without going to law school) and that was inherently interesting which made me check the show out. The comedy and great cast kept be coming back for more.

The other legal genre show I'm interested in is Harry's Law. It seems like it would be more mainstream (on NBC) with more established actors. Watched some previews for it and kinda got the "I like it...but I don't wanna put the effort into watching it" attitude. With the fall TV coming back, I don't think I'll be following this show.

As much as I love Season 1, I think the season finale was a bit of a let down. It seemed like any other episode except with a expected cliffhanger at the end.

***SPOILER ALERT***

I expected a huge confrontation between Trevor and Mike or at least a shocking moment to keep you peeled for next year (like Mike cheating and hooking up with Rachel). Another cliffhanger would have been good too, like Harvey being fired from the firm because he lost the case, or Louis being promoted to Senior Partner while Harvey gets demoted.

Don't get me wrong, the end scene with Trevor meeting with Jessica was big, but I expected more from a show that was top notch for the entire season. Consider that season 2 might be a full year's away I hope the cliffhanger is enough for viewers to come back for the next season.

***SPOILER ALERT END***

Still, I'd say the best show on TV aside from Game of Thrones.

I watched this and Royal Pains.

HBO and USA are the only two networks that consistently aired good shows.

I wonder how Trevor will rat out Mike?

Remember, Mike have a very solid backup plan.

I was sick and ended up watching all of season one back to back. Awesome show.
Specter is badass, it's nice to watch Mike grow, and Luis is friggin hilarious! The girls are nice to look at too.

SPOILER!

Like someone said the last minute of the finale was lame. It was just 30s of Trevor being a ***** . I mean the guy gets bailed out of jail and his life saved then rats out on his friend who sleeps with his ex that he was broken up with already?? He did mention he got a job in the mail room of a law office so it's probably Pearsons and the threat will drag on for season 2. I'm also predicting Harvey will go through the files with buried evidence and start working on those.

USA Network has some pretty decent offerings.

Suits was my favorite of the last season
White Collar and *Burn Notice* have been running for a few seasons and I try to never miss them.
Almost Legal & Royal Pains are good fillers
Unnecessary Roughness doesn't cut it for me

add in Justified & Sons of Anarchy from FX and you have a great group of shows to download and watch during sick days!!

.. don't get me started on my addiction to the trash tv offered by TruTV!!!

What an awesome premiere. Was wondering how they gonna top such a good first season but it seems like season 2 is set up very nicely to do so.

A new main villain character is exactly what the show needs (even better that it's within the firm) I think and it will be great seeing Jessica, Harvey, and Mike do battle together on the same side. Love this new plot in the story. Tack on Mike's love triangle, Mike's new feud with Trevor, and the Mike's enduring secret (which they now have to ensure that Hardman doesn't find out instead of Jessica), and there are enough storylines to engage me throughout the season.

It's also nice to see all of the characters returning. I was afraid, as with many shows, that a new season would bring about departures or reduced screen time for some but it's very nice to see minor characters like Donna, Trevor, and Jenny will still be in the mix.

My top show this summer by far.

I just finished watching the second episode and I'm ready to say the entire 2012 TV Season.

Daniel Hardman wasn't even in last night's episode and the drama he's causing between the three is amazing.

I'll take the sexual tension with Mike & Rachel over them seing each other. It's too early and not a fan of relationships in Legal Drama, this is not Boston Legal.

I agree I hope Louis continues being Louis but I like how the writers are teasing us with him leaving. I can't remember her name but the lady from Harvard is a perfect match. LOL

Oh yeah I found the way they "solved" the lawsuit to be kind of disappointing. For all the big hype about it, in the end all they did was blackmail Tanner with some dirt they found on him in the past (which we're never even told about). I would've liked the other prediction someone posted here better (the one where Tanner ended up planting the document).

Very dramatic and heart tugging, I liked it overall. Not a fan of the character change in Harvey, I really hope he doesn't go too soft. The Hardman situation shout enrage him.
Wasn't pleased with how they settled the case either, like ^ said there was so much hype then nothing? Pretty much just dropped a huge fight in exchange for another. I wanted to see Harvey bury Tanner.

Aug 7th, 2012, 04:20 PM
I agree with everyone that thought that the resolution of the Tanner arc was kinda weak.

It was such a well thought out arc with a good story (Donna got fired!) and rivalry and I expected it to drag out for the entire season. I wanted a season finale with the characters going to court and the excitement and action that comes along with that. A mock trial can only be seen as a let down.

The Tanner arc, coupled with the Hardman arc had great synergy. I'm hoping they introduce a new angle, but I can't see it being better than the Tanner arc. This was built up from last season and was a good villain.

It was a great episode though but there was so much potential. Oh well.

I honestly think rachel is the best looking one on that show. Episode 2 killed it for me when they gave her that one scene just her showing off! I was sold after that.

I was really disappointed like everyone else at how they concluded the trial and settled. What happened to typical harvey fighting court battles and always winning? But with hardman making the show more interesting with the vote and who will run the show? That should be interesting but wonder for how many episodes.

uber_shnitz
Aug 8th, 2012, 02:34 PM
Well I just found Tanner to be a very good villain so it's a shame he was shafted so fast for the next one (Hardman). IMO, it'd have been more "shocker" to have had the whole vote of confidence thing as a season closer after the trial with Tanner. That way, we'd spend more time with Hardman, get to know him and maybe "trust" him and the trust vote would've been a bigger vote. The way it was done currently, I wasn't surprised in the least because I never got to trust Hardman really.

But that being said, I trust the show's writers so I'm sure they'll make it work somehow :)

I find Jenny really cute but she strikes me as kind of trampy somehow

I love the soundtrack they have for this show.

In the season premiere Harvey tells Hardman a story to threaten him not to come back. It was about 'a friend' who had a mom cheating on his dad and he never forgave him. Pretty sure it's Harvey's mom and we'll get to meet her sometime down the road.

Now...sure he could have been given a Jr. Partnership 5yrs ago. But would it take 5yrs for someone to get from Jr. to Sr. Partner? Especially if he kicks much more rear than any of the other partners?!?!?!

If I remember correctly, Louis was already a Junior Partner 5 years ago in Rewind and it took him until the last episode to become a Senior Partner. Don't think it's really that much out of the norm for Harvey to take that long either. It's definitely not enough that you would think it's a plothole.

And yes, again, if I remember correctly, he was only given Junior Partnership in Rewind when he provided Jessica the info to oust Hardman. He was made Senior Partner in the Series Premiere.

Anyways, what does everyone think of the show's downtime until the winter after this Thursday? I initially hated it, but I guess it's better than waiting almost a year for more episodes like between Season 1 and 2. Also, it would be more tolerable if the arc can be intermediately wrapped up. What I mean by this is something like Jessica losing the vote which will wrap up the first half; the second half will have her trying to get her firm back. If they don't leave any crazy cliffhangers, unsolved questions, or use plot devices that will make us go who? huh? what?, then I'll be content with waiting a few months for the 2nd half of the story.

I just hate being strung along for a few months just for 6 more episodes to resolve a cliffhanger from the same season.

Exactly what I wanted: no cliffhanger, no confusion. It was a great episode.

***SPOILER***
When they announced the vote results at the beginning of the show, I knew there would be something more to this episode than I expected. I did find how they ousted Hardman to be not quite believable. It was pretty much a unanimous decision from the partners with so little information provided to them and with no time for deliberation. On top of that, a room full of lawyers don't examine the fraudulent smoking gun document in front of them? I thought that could have been done a little more strategically.

Secondly, I hope Tess creates more than just another love triangle. I'd much rather have Jenny back (she's connected more to the plot with Trevor) if that was the case.
***SPOILER***

Overall, again, great episode. I don't wanna gloat, but I kinda predicted how they would handle this episode 2 posts back. ;)

Jenny > Rachel > Donna.

I like Donna a lot but unlike most shows where there is one stand out hottie like Christina Hendricks from Madmen, all three women in this show are equally stunning.

I just watched all 2 seasons in a matter of days. Amazing show! Although the finale of the second season was horribly predictible and I didn't like it one bit.

Also, the reason that tanner settled is because he found out the planted document was a fraud? What does that matter since donna destroyed the paper and tanner was the clear favorite to win the case given harvey's alleged history of burying evidence. That didn't make any sense.

You predicted that Jessica would lose the vote, proceed to grab power of the firm back, and get Hardman ousted within the same episode? Bravo.

I think pursuing a case based on known tampered evidence would probably be grounds for disbarment. At the very least it's definitely unethical, which I know is straight up Tanner's alley, but could probably be used to blackmail him later on. Think he weighed the pros and cons and decided to pull out of that one.

Being a huge fan of this show. It's been awesome to see them filming it live at Yonge and Adelaide. I normally work far away, but happened to be downtown this past week and saw Harvey and Mike filming! Needless to say, they both look just as good in life as on TV.

Awesome episode last night, my favourite episode this season. Wow just discovered this thread but like the others in this thread I discovered this show last year and watched the entire first season in a day. The first season of Suits was awesome, enjoyed the first half of the second season with the further character development and the Hardman battle but felt something was missing. Personally I like it better when Harvey is in control and running things like a boss with Mike as his clever sidekick using his talents. The first half of this season was great in developing Harvey's character but I thought he was losing it a bit towards the end. Glad he's back to his old self again, perhaps we even get to see a new side to Harvey- the family man lol or not but perhaps Donna can convince him ! She Is Awesome!!!, I feel like she's more of his confidant than his secretary.

But what really draws me to this show is the amazing abilities of the supporting cast members. Rachel is a very interesting character to me how she's hard working but comes from a very privileged family and this next episode should develop her character further. I hope they make Mike really earn her trust back because Mike "needs to get his sh*t together" lol. Louis is my favorite character though, he's like a hard as* tough guy boss in front of all the associates but in front of Jessica and Harvey he's like a kid trying to impress mommy and big brother lol. It's hilarious for a senior partner at a law firm to act in such a way. But Louis is a good guy and I sense he really cares for Pearson Hardman.

His Tom and Jerry relationship with Harvey is hilarious, but I think there is something more to it as alluded again in the episode, but Harveys pissing story in a previous episodes was hilarious. When Harvey ripped Louis' letter tonight he got weak in his knees lol, like Harvey swept him off his feet lol. I sense a bromance there and Louis is just wants Harvey's approval and acknowledgement as a rival and friend. I think Harvey did acknowledge Louis as a friend prior to the Hardman betrayal incident however he is probably disappointed that Louis betrayed Jessica and helped Hardman pull off some dirty tricks.

Anyways sorry for the long tangent, but this show is awesome. Look forward to future episodes and checking this thread again often.

Btw USA renewed Suits for a third season. YAY!!

And a hacker helped him forge a fake Harvard degree and even placed him into the alumni (I think that's right)

Mike just wrote LSAT exams for other students.

During the interview with Harvey, Mike said that he passed the Bar because some guy he knew bet him he couldn't without going to law school.

So while technically Mike has passed the Bar, he wasn't given permission to sit in and write the bar in the first place.

Aside from a few select jurisdictions (California I think), you must have a law degree from SOMEWHERE in order to write the bar. Technically speaking, Mike could use his fake Harvard law degree to apply to write the bar and pass it, thereby properly becoming a lawyer (unless and until they find out he never went to Harvard, but I digress). Since the hacker set it all up for him on Harvard's system, everything on the "backend" would presumably check out.

But for the purposes of this show and keeping the viewers entertained, where's the fun in that?

TV is creative. They won't write off a character just because the fictional universe requires it; they will find some innovative way to get Rachel the screen time. For example, in Friends, when Chandler moved to Tulsa for his new job, his role in the show wasn't at all reduced despite not being in New York.

Who knows what the show runners will do with Rachel, but I doubt whatever storyline they cook up for her will affect her role in the show in any way. That is, unless the show runners really wanted to reduce Meghan Markle's contribution which I don't see why they would. She is the female lead.

When you think about it, Suits is not much different from House with all the witty banter, drama, romantic angles, and predictability. They are running out of storylines which is why they brought Hardman back to the fold. He'll probably be in Season 3 too because honestly there's no one else so far in the way of Pearson other than him.

Looks like your prediction was right, the writers did get creative on this one wow didn't see that coming but next weeks finale is going to be crazy and Louis is just awesome.

Few things:

1) Before my post about TV being creative and all, I was actually going to suggest that maybe Rachel wouldn't even get into Harvard. I had no idea why Rachel assumed she was going to Harvard just because of her stellar application. I thought I missed something like a scene where she got confirmation or something earlier, but now it's clear that she simply jumped the gun. Kinda odd that she was a little over confident in this regard when her character isn't really built like that. Guess falling from grace makes for good TV?

I know that when I was going through the process, I wouldn't dare consider any of the top schools "locks" to get in, let alone one of the best law school in the world. It is general recognized that anything can happen. I guess Ms. Zane is a little cocky huh?

2) For anyone that knows about the LSAT, do you guys also find it irksome that the show keeps referring to it as "LSATs"? It's the Law School Admissions Test ("LSAT") so the only time you would call it LSATs would be if it were plural and they aren't using it in that sense. A little nitpicking I know. ;)

3) As for people thinking the show is getting repetitive, I think it should be kept in mind that this is still the same season; it's just that they took an annoyingly long break. Hardman is the bad guy for all of season 2, much like Trevor was the main villain in the first. I wouldn't say it's repetitive if you watched all 16 episodes in the season back to back; it just feels so because it has a feeling of a "new" season even though it's not. I'm sure we'll never see Hardman again after this season with his name being removed and him possibly being jailed for his misdeeds. This Pearson Hardman bleeding money storyline and the merging storyline will make it so fresh faces and problems arise for season 3 I hope. I'm sure they will make it so Mike Ross and his secret will be front and center once again one the new "merged firm" starts poking their noses around.

4) Next week looks like it will be awesome. I expect a crazy cliffhanger.

A little nitpicking I know. ;)

I cringe every time I hear them refer to the "LSAT" as "the LSATs".

There's worse things in life than going to Yale/Stanford/Princeton/Berkeley for law school.

I'm glad and hoping they continue to concentrate on law cases with hints of drama as opposed to only using law in the background as they've done in the first half of season 2. I liked the first season due to the balance between the work and characters' interactions. Beginning of season 2 pushed drama more and basically we almost heard nothing about the work (only in a few episodes). Glad it's shifting back a bit with the larger cases.

My gf just pointed this out that in the most recent episode, Scotty and Harvey can be seen talking on the bench at night in Main st. Unionville in Markham, ON!!! They were right outside of the Old Firehall Confectionery! It's only 5 mins from where she lives and it looks like they shot it around Christmas time as traces of Christmas lights can be seen in the other shops nearby!

Found a YouTube video, and it's dated October of last year!

Yep, my friend actually saw them shooting in Main Street Unionville but didn't realize it was suits until she got home.

The Ross and Rachel thing not only bores me but it actually sickened me, what terrible acting and made no sense.
Amazing episode, they stuffed a lot into 40min! I still have no clue what the case was about or the file but wever.
I did not see that twist coming, great cliffhanger.

I'm not going to lie but I'm confused as to what exactly is happening in the show, too many deviations.

Yeah I'm usually ontop of this stuff, but I had no idea what happened in those 49 minutes. The funny thing is, the finale was still chalked full of great drama and tension without me even knowing what was going on plot. Points to great acting I presume but poor story-mapping. Just felt a rushed as if they tried to cram too much into the episode. It did run 49 minutes instead of the normal 42-43 minutes of a normal 1 hour show so you can see that they were struggling for time.

Probably going to re-watch this again to get a feel of what was going on (and maybe loop the last scene over and over again ).

well the weird cut to the bathroom where it's assumed the challenge is over and Harvey lost was sort of abrupt. But the scene before it when Jessica threatens Mike and tells him to go home pretty much implies he threw the case.

In conclusion, by beating Harvey, Jessica is still the best of the best. Harvey lost and has to stay with the firm and accept the merge. Scotty was fired but will be re-hired which is great cuz she is eye candy as others mentioned. Mike telling Rachel his secret will probably be the hot topic next season and I'm sure they'll have their usual random case episodes with the new firm. I'm pretty sure but hoping also that hardman or any other 'evil' character will not return (sick of them). Since clearly next season will be about Mike and Rachel romance, I'm guessing Harvey and Scotty will probably continue their weird relationship until the end of the season. It'll be too predictable if they hook up. Donna and Luis are the most consistent characters and could have a show of their own and they will probably continue adding humour to every scene they're in.

The sex scene at the end was super lame.

Jessica is the new 'evil' character, that was the crazy twist to me. It's Specter vs Pearson next season.

LOL, I totally forgot about that this season. That was more for celebration, I don't think we'll be seeing happy moments anytime soon.

I like this side of Jessica even more, putting Harvey in his place.

Finally, Mike tells Rachel the truth and gives a steamy ending. LOL That was hot. I hope this stay together for good, I hate this whole drama between them.

I don't like the whole Rachel/Mike thing either.

The Jessica/Harvey scene where she basically owned him was INTENSE. Amazing acting on both ends.
