anyone here are of shanghainese descent?
i have a friend who is shanghainese, but i heard he's not really shanghainese descent, just moved there several generations ago. i'm chinese, but shanghainese, so not sure if their culture and tradition is different. he and his wife is expecting a baby in a few months. people from souhern part of china (canton, etc) usually have a one-month party for the baby. what about shanghainese? do they celebrate at one-month, 100 day, or what? i want to have the gift ready, and not have to go shopping at the last minute. in fact, does this have anything to do with what region descent or simply personal / family preference?
