Cool oldskool NBA Video (http://nbalife.free.fr/Great%20NBA%20Plays%20Video.wmv)
a touch of Vince would've been nice.
Too bad there isn't the excitement in the game as it used to be. The game has changed. Just like the NHL has changed.

There just arent enough Super Stars anymore to go around
There are too many people that cant play the game the way it was meant to be (aka defensive specialists)
The game used to be about scoring more than the other team now its about making the other team score less. You throw up an air ball - its all good as long as you make the other team throw up brick.

You just contradicted yourself, in your very next sentence.

The NBA is now about defense. That's why you see such low scoring games. Just like the NHL. All about the defense and breaking the other team down.

I agree that the focus has shifted towards defense, and as the saying goes, "defense wins championships". The problem is that you can play exciting defense, or you can play the grind it out style that New York made popular.
Also, I would say that there are plenty of superstars in the NBA today. In fact, the entire league is devoted to promoting superstars since the image of a superstar is more marketable than that of a team. The problem is that the players who aren't superstars aren't as good as they used to be. You look at an NBA team back in the 80's, and they were absolutely stacked. Even if the team's best players went down, the bench and the other starters were still pretty damn good.
Now past Shaq and Kobe (bare with me here...going back to the last repeat champs), it's freaking Rick Fox.

great vid!
I CAN'T BELIEVE KEMP! HOly crap that guy was mean with hops!
Iverson's play on Cotton Camby was spectacular...but some of his other highlights....um...ball hog. As cool as they looked.

tough vid. yea, my favourite clips are of Kemp. he was just plain sick back in the day.
it's still exciting to watch games though. I think because the defense is so much tougher, it makes it hard to just dunk on man like that, but that's what makes it that much better.

Haha bmaz, I have no idea either.........
Actually, i think teams are still all about offense, though defense wins games.
Look at the Lakers last year. Shaq, Kobe, Payton, Malone.
To me, Payton and Malone didnt play defense, they are just too slow and too old now to compete with the youngsters.

It's not misleading son. Look at the responses so far. The game is no where near as entertaining as it used to be. Right click save as should save the file.

Hmmm! Actually, it is the other way around for me. There were too much scoring. Teams went left, scored; teams went right, scored; left ...scored; right ... scored, ..... Hence, I did not want to watch it at all. That was too boring watching whole bunch of people running left and right.
Now, there is defense and I started to watch it in the past few years and found it to be much more entertainning.

I agree with gman here. Watching Pistons' defense choking other teams is quite entertaining. Especially when they gave Lakers big time spanking in the final. :cheesygri

No problems for me with the NBA, great game to watch. I would say it's biggest problem is getting players to give 100% in the regular season. Plenty of superstars, as many as ever.
Now, the nhl, needs 2 things to become exciting again.....
1: Not be on strike.
2: No more offsides. They want scoring, they want excitement.....this would be end to end action!

You need to have offsides son or else the game would be out of control. I can see why they would like to remove the red line so there won't be as many 2 line passes.

First up.....I can guarantee I am not your "son", in fact it would be the other way around no doubt.
Second, try playing with no offsides in a an nhl video game. It works fine. You just have to be more carefull on defense, and the game is more tense all the way thru because the threat of scoring is always there.
No 2 line passes and no redline = exciting hockey.

no offsides would just result in a larger amount of players clogging up the neutral zone trying to not let the other team from entering their own zone. it would just make the game more defensive and slower paced rather than promote mad rushes and pure scoring. Why would you have cherry pickers around the opposing net while leaving your own net pretty much unguarded?

I would SO totally kick ass in a NHL game with no offisides. Just love goal sucking.

I disagree, clogging the neutral zone can lead to easy scores, you have to balance you defense with no offsides. There would be way less dump and chase, (boring) More great plays, hitting, passing and skating moves.

Yep... I always thought BY FAR that Kemp had the best 'in-game' dunks of all-time. Although the Jordan over Ewing is up there :)

I guess I'm old. To me, old school NBA is Erving, Wilkins, Gervin, Jabbar, Murphy, Bird.
I like AI, but to call him old school?
