Toronto to Honolulu, Hawaii - USA Customs/Immigrations

Do you clear US customs at the Vancouver Airport, or when you land in Honolulu?

Can't find any info online.

I believe if your flight is direct from Toronto to Honolulu, you do pre-clearance in Toronto.

If your flight involves a transfer in Vancouver, then pre-clearance in Vancouver. Although I have never flown from Vancouver to Honolulu directly, I believe as long as you fly on the major carriers, you can do pre-clearance in Vancouver.

yes i have to transfer in vancouver. Never knew they had direct flights from Toronto.

I don't believe they have direct flights from Toronto any more.

From major Canadian cities, including Vancouver, you pre-clear US customs in those Canadian airports.

You will clear in Vancouver on the way out and on the way back

You no longer have to pick up your bags at the US customs hall in YVR either, but you do on the way back.
