Negotiating Gym Membership rates

Not sure if this is 100% possible, but I just completed my one year with my gym. I want to re-negotiate a lower monthly rate (just saw it increased by $3/month>:( )

Is this possible, if so, have any advice/tips? It crossed my mind to tell them I'll go to another gym, but I'm pretty sure they've heard this numerous times and have a rebuttal for it, plus I actually like the gym and don't want to leave.

What gym is it. Probably depends on the gym. Some are notoriously difficult to work with while others are a little more lax.

I very much doubt a big chain will negotiate with you other than *maybe premier. If anything they might give you the current promo if it's better than yours.
