anyone personally done this to their 40D and what was the over all video quality....Im looking for a DSLR that does video (sound isnt a issue) and seen a few 40D on the market..I read the reviews about the camera already but really interested about the video hack...

The only "video hack" for 40D I've heard is a pc-based program that records the video stream from 40D's live-view capability. The camera has to be tethered to the PC via USB. I used it on my XSi/450D, and the quality is between SD and 720p. No audio, though.

there are a few videos already showing it can be done without the tether...
