C-60 is not bad although a bit slow. ok for netbook games tho

I3 is good, 2 cores and 4 threads

I got the Acer 1830T 11.6" i3-380um, 4GB ram yesterday for $350 so not bad, just $100 more than the c-60 which I was going to get but caved into spending a bit more

Where did you get the 1830T from?

Does a desktop have to be in working order? or have to have all parts?

actually after I saw the c60 I went to pick this up for $3xx.00 at Tigerdirect which was a steal and they had tons yesterday
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=807399&CatId=4938

but when I open the box it wasn't a u5600 but an I3. It was an open box so I think there was some mistake. ANyways it was $350 after tax

im pretty sure it can be broken, they wont waste time testing it. they are just going to recycle it in a dump

it may be able to be broken, but I am pretty sure that the ones that are working are recycled out to ebay. not through their ebay stores, but resellers.

it's a pretty good deal if you trade in a broken system, but not if your system is working. It's not like you get $50 off. It's more like you get a $50 trade in value and have to buy from them.

for many it may be better to sell and keep the difference or buy somewhere else.

It's a good deal if you have a broken computer. all you really need is a computer case and just throw in some old motherboard.

A deal like this is good on low end stuff.

The Best, cheapest bottom level lappy in this deal right is the c60. It's $250, has 1366x768, and ok netbook gaming

Memory express had them on sale (with a u5600) a while back for about $320, and I regret not buying one. Good deal on the I3, but the price is $399 on the TD site and sounds like you got a mixup.

C60 isn't that bad for web browsing, watching flash video (although make sure everything is updated to take advantage of hardware acceleration), watching locally stored video and LibreOffice. I found the main thing crippling my AO522 was the RAM. After a bump to 2gb, things are much better. Performance is comparable to my Thinkpad X61s with a C2D 1.6ghz.

Having said that I went for the C60 based on price. I wouldn't go for the C60 over the N570 on merit alone, just value for money. And at these prices (the $180 Gateway netbook springs to mind) there's no excuse on getting a single core chip.

How good is the AMD E350 at playing Facebook games (Farmville, etc)? I'm guessing that most FB games don't utilize the GPU. I'm thinking of replacing the wifes 1.6Ghz C2D Acer lappy with the Toshiba 14".

FS Flyers are Friday through Thursday - wasn't it just on sale up until yesterday and now no longer on sale today?

New flyer week, new 'best' deals

Sorry OP but it looks like all prices have been jack-up from what you posted. The deal nets maybe a few bucks now, when you consider the taxes as well.I was considering getting a cheap laptop and trading in a broken one.

This is a pretty good deal even if your system IS working. Assuming you:

- Know where to get junker PCs for next to nothing (or for nothing) (local surplus sales, garage sales, etc--Doesn't say it even has to be an IBM compatible PC, that old Commodore 64 should do the trick)
- Happen to have old junk PCs you don't need (and anyone fixing PCs has plenty--if you know someone who fixes computers, just ask, they'd probably unload plenty of grade-A crap for you)

I'm really tempted...

people just put computers and monitors at the curb side on garbage collection day, it is not hard to find a shell with computer parts in it.

plus if you are looking at upgrading your tech at home, chances are you are better off trading in the old tech rather than leaving that piece of obsolete hardware at home collecting dust. Its a decent promo.

I traded in my old broken laptop from 2005 on this deal. i also removed the hard drive completely from the machine and destroyed it myself. They didn't ask about it or check.

They also let me get an open box computer, which is against the rules, apparently.

So if you don't get what you want at first, go back later and try again.

I have a crusty old Thinkpad that I got for free from work. Now I'll be able to get some use out of it at last! :D
