Wrong forum I know but I need to see if anyone else has Internet Explorer or Chrome go nuts at 50-75% CPU usage when reading the forum. It is consistently high for me.
Maybe something unusual is happening on their server?
I was wondering why my response dies when I try to read the forum. I cleared my cache.

It's because RFD gives spyware and trojan horses to your computer.

I'm experiencing the same thing on all RFD forum pages with Chrome (latest version.) It's brutal. I've switched to Firefox for RFD only and CPU usage has dropped back to normal.

It's just sign to let you know you need to buy some more stuff from the sponsors here to keep things running more smoothly ;)

It's happened to me before on Chrome. Keeps loading the page and draws 100% of one CPU core.

You're going to need a bigger CPU.

It's happening to me today as well. 50+ cpu usage, iexplore.exe using more than 132MB memory in the forums.
Using IE8, WIndows XP.

Actually I'm also seeing the same thing occasionally with Firefox.
What's changed on RFD's server in the past day or two?

Probably something to do with all the ads and stupid popups riddling the site now.. Most annoying thing is the blue banner that keeps coming up at the bottom of the screen begging us to "subscribe to their deal of the day!"
Even after I click hide, or cancel, the damn thing will STILL always pop up. Especially when clicking an RFD link from Google.. So annoying

I'm having the same situation. Anytime I try to load RFD in chrome, it says there are java errors. It seems to work in Firefox, but it's still a resource hog.
They must have added something to bring in more $$. They should make sure the code it tested before implementation.
I hope it's not analytics software meant to capture our data, to sell to companies...

No problems here. Safari & Flashblock on Lion.

This is what happens when code doesn't get tested.
The forum seems to hang even before it can completely load the header, hogs the CPU to 100% until the OS prompts the user to force kill.
All the browsers I regularly use get crippled trying to load any RFD site
EDIT: Chrome 14 and GNOME webkit variants

Who is running this site now anyway? I guess they don't test their code sufficiently, or even watch the forums to see what users are experiencing, since nobody from the site has bothered responding yet.

HP Touchpad with WebOS 3.0.4 failed to load forums.redflagdeals.com, but OK with f.redflagdeals.com. I thought HP screwed up.
BTW, iPod Touch 4 has the same problem.
Please FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh you meant who are the forum admins? "oranr" and "kaitlyn"
I just want to know who's great idea it was to make the gigantic blue popup deal-of-the-day banner, and why can't they fix it so clicking "hide" will HIDE IT PERMANENTLY!

"yellow pages"
+1
And yet http://www.yellowpages.ca/ is "lean and clean" without any of the drek that's been bolted onto RFD to "track, shill and nag" all the users all the time.

Don't like the flash adds? Then don't load the flash adds.

I have been bouncing from IE9 to Firefox to try and find the cause of the extreme CPU usage. Then I closed the RedFlagDeals browser tabs! I had even uninstalled the latest Flash Player 11 update, which I had initially suspected.
Has anyone been able to pin-point the source of the problem? What can we turn off to prevent the RFD page from taking my system to 75%?
