I like the atomosphere that's there and its a great place to take a date etc. Wondering what other locations in downtown (preferrably along the subway line but not a req.) are similar class but different taste altogether? Alcohol doesn't need to be as diverse as Beer Bistro though :)

130 views and it's the only joint along a subway line like this?

Maybe you could describe what exactly sets Beer Bistro apart from other places for you? What is it about the atmosphere?

Volo crossed my mind but I didn't want to mention it because a couple of weeks ago I saw a cockroach on the wooden bar at the back...

Well let me see how best to describe it...I think I see more 25+ yr olds go there, not the university crowd etc. If I want the University crowd feeling I'll just goto salad king and you'll know what i mean (cheap, effective great eats at that location). If I want a little more upscale I goto beer bistro where I get the vibe the place is more geared towards "Young and Professional". That's the type of atmosphere that I'm looking for but also bustling with activity but not "too much activity". If i'm not mistaken they also have a band that comes in and plays from time to time on sat. or fri. nights(someone will have to confirm that as i went on a sun.)
I'll have to keep the above places in mind, thanks posters!

I know they used to have a jazz band come in on either fridays or saturdays, my wifes uncle was playing there regularly. Not so much recently, but i haven't talked to in a while.
I went to this place where he was playing one time called sopra, it's a lounge above mitsura less than 10 minute walk from dupont station. Not beer oriented like beer bistro but definitely no university riff-raff and a very nice atmosphere.

They moved to chinatown!?!?!?!
Jokes. Haven't been there for a few years, but always loved that place. I will reconsider the next time I'm in the area.

How about Spice Route on King W.? It's more upscale and full of yuppies, but not as quiet. Insomnia lounge at Bloor and Bathurst is also nice if you enjoy cocktails.

Yeah it was pretty disappointing. I sent Toronto Health to check them out and they still got a pass (http://app.toronto.ca/food2/DineSafeMain?userRequest=view_history&ESTABLISHMENT_ID=9017230). Funny cause when they called me back to report on their findings I was told "while there aren't any nests right now, conditions for development definitely exist".
