I got my Panasonic 3D plasma pretty much 1 year ago today. I got a good deal on it but im finding that there still doesn't seem to be alot of 3D content, unless I'm blind and there is alot.
What I have in 3D:
Avatar (came with tv)
Coraline (came with tv)
Ice age (came with tv)
Saw 3D
Last 2 Harry potter movies
Under the sea 3D
Can't remember right now what else I have in 3D but the rest seems to be all kids movies that I could care less about, bought the last 2 Harry potter movies for the gf 2 days ago, some really cool effects in there
Another thing is with ps3 games, black ops has 3D but for some reason the makers of mw3 seemed to have taken a step backwards and not included that for us 3D adopters.
Oh how I wish planet earth was done in 3D...

Meh, I got the 4 Shreks with mine and 4 sets of glasses. I've watched 1 movie, I bought the tv cause it had great 2D image, not because it had 3D.

That's why I bought the Panasonic mainly as well because the picture quality is amazing, but we obviously pay extra for the 3D feature which isn't getting much use.

Thats the price of being a early adopter. The newer TV's are doing a decent job at converting 2d to 3d, and the selection of 3D content is not there yet.
I know bell expressvu broadcasts 3d PPV movies every tuesday, so maybe check your TV provider to see if any programming.

I mainly got it for the better picture quality, had a vt25, sold it and opted for the largest gt30. I am extremely impressed with the 2d quality and the added 3d is a bonus, whether it may be a thing of the future doesn't matter but its nice to have. When I have the option I always watch the 3d version to experience it, I've seen my fair share of content this year...
How to Train Your Dragon
Toy Story 3
Cars 2
Lion King (Absolutely Amazing)
Beauty & The Beast (Nice)
Avatar
Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Pt.2
Green Lantern
Tangled
Captain America
Shrek 3
Ice Age 3
Also played through Arkham City/Uncharted 3 fully, it was ok and cool but not needed though nice to have.
This holiday season we have 3 more 3d movies coming so good times, and if it matters the hobbit will be native 3d as well. Check out transformers dark of the moon later this year for awesome 3d.

We have Rogers HD cable here, from what I know of (haven't done too much research), channel 900 is a 3D demo channel showing what is coming, and Rogers on demand only has 1 movie on there which is sanctum although I heard it wasn't good).
As far as paying to be an early adopter, that's a given. The tv, movies, 2 glasses (got them to throw it in which was a hassle) and the blu ray player taxes in was $2300. In reality I bought it cause I wanted a plasma and this tv had whatever best picture/tv of the year. So far I haven't seen a tv much nicer in this price range, the vt25 looked slightly better and hell I haven't even had it calibrated but once i rearrange the room + reptile tanks I will have it calibrated cause I know it can look even better

I must admit all 3d tv's even older 3d tv's have better pic quality in 2d, then comparible none 3d sets.

3D was and still is just a gimmick. If the deal is good enough on a TV and it happens to come with 3D fine, but to actually pay more for 3D is stupid IMO. TV manufacturers were smart to jump on board when the whole 3D hype started with Avatar, and people thought it was the next big thing in TV. Frankly, who the hell wants to sit in their living room with some stupid glasses on, not to mention being limited to how many people can watch it due to the overpriced glasses you need.

Yeah, I'll probably get that, too. It was another typical screw-the-fans move when they released the 2D version but the 3D version not being available until 3 months later.

I don't get this statement....I will keep my tv and enjoy my 60" of glorious 2D ad upgrade when a worthy technology upgrade comes. 3D may be a gimmick, but its not like we can't enjoy regular programming with superior IQ as well.

4k will be a waste of money as well, will anything previous to its release be in that high of a resolution to make a difference? I haven't done any reading on the 4K stuff at all, to me what I'm watching now is plenty good for me.
As for releasing 2D first and 3D months later to me is so ridiculous that it will just lead to piracy. This is what I bet is happening since there are no blockbusters around anymore, and no Rogers plus in my area either...

Don't forget 3D Sex and Zen!
And Jet Li's latest Chinese flick "The Sorcerer and The White Snake" is also in 3D but that one hasn't come out to bluray yet. But 3D Sex and Zen sure is available!

no, I have a 1080p projector, projected onto a 90 inch wall image.

but you could have had almost the same thing for 1-2k less. that's 1-2k that you could have spent on better speakers, better receivers, better sofas, etc. and remember, that 3d you're watching? its essentially 720p as half the image is used for the other eye.

do you know what resolution films are shot at? i'll give you a hint, its not 1080p.
most films are shot on 35mm film, which has a resolution roughly equvalent to 8k digital. and currently, we do not even have lots of 2k display devices, so there is a long way to go in terms of picture quality/resolution.
1080p is okay up to about 40 inches, then it starts falling off. I could see artifacts on my 1080p projector. this is all sitting about 9 feet.
saying that 4k will be waste of money shows how little you appreciate HD.

Could have saved money on better speakers and sofas? My sofas were $3000 for the pair and my speakers are all made by Bose which in my tv area sounds amazing, or music im using Volant VL-3 speakers so spare me the $ could have been used on other stuff.
What is the cost of a new 4K tv going to be? Probably around the area of those 70" tvs out now or more...

I would think thats a ways out, at least for content. How much demand will there be for it? 1080p still looks good on tv's up to about 100 inches (maybe even bigger?). Even high resolutions need even bigger tv's (or projectors) to benefit from. I think living room space becomes a big factor. Not to mention the tv companies barely seem to have enough bandwidth to transmit 720/1080i. I think 2k/4k is a pipe dream a long ways away, if at all.

No need to purchase those expensive sunglasses to enjoy 3D content.
However, if those 3D TV are anything like the N3DS. I'll need a paper lunch bag for vomit.

And so far the ones that are glasses free from what I've heard is exactly like the 3DS, which is a horrible handheld console itself :D (I had one and I bought one for the gf, I didn't really like it but thats me...)
This guy going on about 4K TVs has a LONG LONG wait to go through before he can afford one. Seeing as how this thread has gone off topic from 3D movie releases and such (like I thought it would) I don't think theres a point to this thread anymore
However, what I would like is an entire list of 3D movies and go from there.

I got an amazing deal on my 59" Samsung 3D TV, but it didn't come with glasses. I planned on buying some, but then realized how little 3D content there is and that I don't even like 3D that much, so I haven't bothered to buy the glasses and likely never will.
The price was just too good to pass up though, and no, buying a similar 2D TV wouldn't have saved me money. The price simply couldn't be beat.

not a bad choice on the volent though.
the point was that you could save the money from the 3d tv and put it towards the 4k tv.

1080p does not look good up to 100 inch at the average viewing distance of 9-15 feet.
I'd say upto about 40 inches.
the point of higher resolution like 2k and 4k is so that people can take full advantage of screens like 50inch+ to about 120 inches.
And so far the ones that are glasses free from what I've heard is exactly like the 3DS, which is a horrible handheld console itself :D (I had one and I bought one for the gf, I didn't really like it but thats me...)

not that long, 2k are already available in large sizes (100 inch +) just waiting for it to drop down in price.

A lot of the Imax documentaries look nice in 3D. The biggest problem with 3D continues to be the glasses, they are impratical to wear for extended hours of viewing and the 3D novely wears off quickly.

Yes, the amount of 3D movie content is disappointing... let alone a bit expensive. I also don't get why most movies come with 3D blu-ray, Blu-Ray, digital copy, and DVD. I only needed one.
I just recently purchased The IMAX Hubble, Deep Sea Adventure, and Under The Sea. All three are only 45min and definitely not worth $40-45 each.
But with all said and done, I am pretty satisfied with the 42" LG 3D LED TV that I got for $689. =) Buying a $1500 TV is not really worth it, IMO.
