I'm not really sure I understand what you're trying to say.

I think you're referring to Chuck Hughes. It's because he actually won Iron Chef against Bobby Flay the last time he was there. I don't believe there were other Canadian Chefs that ever won.

Not sure about Lynn Crawford, maybe she's not interested? But to me, Michael Smith is not an ideal chocie for a competition like Iron Chef. He's more of a "home chef" if that makes sense - his dishes are great for cooking family meals but not ideal for the complex, creative dishes that iron chefs are known for. Kind of how Jamie Oliver is a great chef but his style is not suitable for Iron Chef

Rob Feenie was the first Canadian to win by beating Morimoto
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Feenie

Smith got DESTROYED vs Flay, zero chance for him.

You are right! I just looked it up. So it looks like Chuck was the 2nd Canadian to ever win. Chuck is actually based in Montreal. If you ask me, I would've sent Matin Picard, who's restaurant was actually featured in Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. I've been to his restaurant in Montreal and the food was absolutely amazing!

Crawford is just brutal, so obnoxious. Thank Christ she's not on it, although I haven't watched the show personally.

I agree her new show, Pitchin In, although great concept, highlights how annoying she is!

Out of some of the Canadians who didn't win, based solely on a competitive fast paced cooking environment IMO it would be:
David Adjey > Lynn Crawford > Michael Smith (he got screwed with a lousy ingredient but serving a trio of guacamole had me shaking my head)

What is the purpose of the above comment? It made no sense and contributed NOTHING to the topic, but I have to congratulate you for increasing your post count by one.

onehaehyuk: I totally agree with your assessment of Michael Smith. I have his cookbook, and while his recipes are easy and tasty, to be an Iron Chef you have to be very original and imaginative. You won't win with comfort food.

I like Chucks attitude, but hes a kind of a glorified Pub food cook. He only beat Flay b/c Flay had a lot of screw ups, and the judges seemed to think that Hughes' Canadian signature items like Poutine were "exotic" lol.

I still think Smith should have tied or beaten Flay. But on the Food Network, his show positions him 1 notch above Rachel Ray in terms of "chef cred".

Doesnt matter Chucks gone now.;) Life isnt fair...being pitted against a chef who specializes in asian styles with the main ingredient of Tofu, when he had never cooked with it before supposedly...but again, drawback of being a pub-fare cook.

I saw him on an episode of iron chef, his low score was embarrassing... in fact, I dont think I've ever seen a score that low before.

you have a perfect definition of Chuck, he cooking is very pub-style. he loves to make donuts, poutine, fries... no offense, those food taste good, and I agree Chunk is a nice guy, but just not the iron chef style. I was actually surprise Chuck could make to the 3rd week.

that's why I wish Lynn instead of Chuck. not a big fan of her personality, but she appears to be able to use regular ingredients to make fine food.

I think he has spent too much time cooking at home with can food

it was too disappointed to see using a can of tuna in kitchen stadium

Micheal Smith is a good chef and I like his personality, he is very humble and knwoledge, I would love to see him get a second chance in iron chef, but on that day vs Flay, he was out of mind.

I wonder how Smith will perform in Chopped

i would've liked to see Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver on the next iron chef...

but then again they're very accomplished people already and don't have the need to participate in the show.

what i don't get is that there are so many other chefs on the food network that they could've picked from: aaron sanchez and chris cosentino (chef's versus city)

these 2 guys are fun to watch, i mean so is robert irvine, too bad he got eliminated as well as chuck.

this show would be better if they got every michelin star winner from the USA and put them on the show...haha...

Aaron Sanchez placed 4th in The Next Iron Chef: Season 1 in 2007. Chris Cosentino was 3rd in the same show. Michael Symon was the winner that year.

i was totally disappointed that robert was gone in the second episode, i thought he could have made to the finale.

but again, i agree with someone's opinion, robert was a very competitive chef who can handle high pressure and extreme situation, but his cooking (including his show) are mainly for ordinary people, not food critic or other high end chefs

i am a huge fan or robert, but i have to say he is not an iron chef
