...Or whatever they are called.

After driving a car with heated seats, it's going to be hard to give it up when I put the car away for the winter.

Do any decent aftermarket seated heat pad things exist? I don't mean converting the cars heats to heated seats, just to put a heated cushion or something similar.

I figure it would look pretty stupid, not that I care much as it is only a winter beater but I bought buy seat covers and hide it under that.

Anyone have experience with one of those things?

I don't think the cushions that plug in the lighter give you a whole lot of heat (they can't because of the power - I think lighter is often only 5A) however you can buy seated seat inserts that you install under your seat material (or under seat covers) and those work pretty well.

I added some that I bought from eBay to my car several years ago. I believe it's wired with a 40A fuse (i.e. 20A per side).

been using a pair I picked up on sale 3 years ago at CT its called "heatech heating cushion" and it is excellent.

click here http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/VehicleAccessories/SeatCushions/PRDOVR~0323511P/Heatech+Heating+Cushion.jsp?locale=en for the link and you can also read my review at CT

Hmm two interesting options...not sure I want to go through the trouble of installing a kit into the seats but will look it up.

Handy I asked the question just in time for that second option, on sale right now. Will read some reviews later tonight.

I'm guessing you can only run one at a time? Was thinking I should buy a second one for the girlfriend.

you can use 2 or even 4 if you wanted to...they just simply plugs into your 12v cig lighter socket...my car has 2 slots but you can buy 12v socket hub

I also have seat covers to hide the heat cushions so it looks like real heated seats...use double sided tape to mount your switches to an area that is safe for you

nice idea about the double sided tape.

I read online that you shouldn't use those socket splitters, which I can kind of understand. My winter car unfortunately only has one outlet.

Just be careful of leaving those seat cushions plugged in all the time. There have been several issues with them overheating and even burning the seat when they were supposedly off. There seems to be a recall almost every year.
I bought one for my Daughter a couple years ago and it was recalled but, the recall was not well advertised and I found out by coincidence.

I bought one for my Daughter a couple years ago and it was recalled but, the recall was not well advertised and I found out by coincidence. I use mine with one of these:
http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/VehicleAccessories/Plugin12VoltAccessories/PRD~0374461P/12V+Two+Socket+Power+Adapter+with+2+USB.jsp?locale =en

Each socket plug can be turned off individually, so instead of plugging and unplugging the heating pad all the time, I just need to flip a switch to turn it on or off. The dual USB plugs are useful, too.

(I can't really comment on the heating pad itself. I bought it just a few weeks ago and it hasn't been cold enough to use it much. It's just a cheap $9.99-on-sale one from CT, but so far it's fine.)

I installed the following heated seat kit from ebay in my mustang:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Universal-Heated-Dual-Pad-Seat-Heater-Kit-Car-Truck-SUV-/320595717562?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4aa4fe6dba

It was not a difficult job, but it took a whole day to install the kit. The heated seats work well and was very happy with the result.

Now that the weather is getting cold, it makes a hugh difference. :D

You girlfriend will love you...especially during that time of the month. My GF loves the heat especially when she gets a little bit of low back discomfort!
