I like Christie Fig and Date Cookies, after contacting Christie explaining to them that every time I go to NoFrills, Wal-Mart etc the expiration date is July 26, 2010. Christie informed me that they keep a close communication with the stores selling their product. I decided to let a few weeks lapse in hopes that, maybe, just maybe Christie would remedy this problem, they didn't. Instead the cookies sit on the shelve with a July 26, expiration date. This may be wishful thinking, but I was hoping Christie would send me a coupon for a free non-expired package or (2) being that I like them so much of their cookies for informing them of what maybe the stores are not informing them of. Silly me should have known better. Anyhow it appears that Christie doesn't care about these brand of cookies only their Oreo counterparts, and that customer complaining doesn't help.

Here's a thought, why don't you complain to the stores that have old stock on their shelves?

I didn't mention, I already tired that. It was the same as Christie. Stores don't listen, you think they do. They wait until you leave and roll they eyes even if it reaches head office.

Honestly, if they have cookies that are 18 months old on the shelf, it means that no one is buying them so I don't see how they'll care too much about that product.

Lol,
and they will really do something...hahahah!

I tried that w shoppers a few times this year.
One store I go to I bought some jelly beans (life brand) and get home and realize they were "expired" buy 4 months.
I have no issues w "expired" candy, but if it is full price- that is different.

I called the store, they told me they would remove the candy.
Next week pass by wanting to get some jelly beans after a class nearby and...old candy still on the shelf.

I emailed or called Shoppers about it and they gave me a bunch of points.
Next week, go to the same store (to buy other stuff) and the old candy is STILL there:facepalm:

Since I was buying other items I brought one package to the cashier and told her and she just looked at it and put it back...
The same Shoppers always has a lot of expired chips.

They should have sent you a couple coupons at least- surprized they are that cheap!

Once upon a time I had some problems with cookies made by another company. I called them up many times and they did not respond to me or address my problems at all. It was very frustrating and I felt emasculated with no recourse. So I showed up at their head office with a chainsaw and cut their tree down. Now you can't even find their products on the shelves anymore. I won that battle with a multinational food corporation.

Lol,
I ended up getting $20 worth of shoppers points for my call:razz:

I don't mind eating expired stuff in sealed packages within reason of what the item is and how long it's been expired.

I'd stay away from meat and dairy items that are expired but wheat products and candy are game.

I recently bought some expired wheat crackers at a reduced price and they were good.

Also bought some expired fruit cups from the Asian store and still good. Vacuum sealed individual servings.

If you wish to boycott Christie, the dollar store has some tasty date and fig bars and most supermarkets have their generic in store brands,

some of which may have been made by Christie and relabeled.

My favorite fig bars and bourbon creme biscuits are the English ones made by Jacobs.

The stores mentioned may not be rotating stock properly. Lower priced places tend to have minimum wage earners stocking the shelves. Combine that with top heavy management, you have poor morale and too much work to accomplish, and the consumer is the loser.
There is less mismanagement at Longo, Highland Farms, T&T, or Costco.

So you're saying that every package in every store has the same expiration date?

Perhaps someone on the Christie production line doesn't know how to advance the date stamp?
