WCVB TV (http://www.thebostonchannel.com/r/30013683/detail.html) in Boston is reporting today that NBC and CBC hockey analyst Mike Milbury has been charged with allegedly assaulting a child at a local hockey rink last week (http://www.rinktime.com/skating_rinks/ma/larz_anderson_rink_skating_rink_arena_brookline_ma .cfm).
According to WCVB, Milbury is an assistant coach for a youth team in Brookline, Mass. and the 12-year old alleged victim is a player from another team in the league.
Some more details from the Boston Herald (http://www.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view/2011_1216former_bruin_mike_milbury_accused_of_assa ulting_child/srvc=home&position=recent):
Police today said they have charged Milbury with assault and battery on a child, threats to commit a crime and disorderly conduct in connection with his alleged verbal and physical attack on a 12-year-old boy during a pee-wee exhibition hockey game last Friday night at the town-owned Larz Anderson Rink in Brookline.
The Herald reports that Milbury's son got into a tussle during a game and afterwards the former NHL player and general manager went onto the ice and "verbally berated and grabbed and shook" the alleged victim.
CBC and NBC have not responded to requests for comment at the moment.
We'll update this as more information comes available.
Wonder if he'll be at work for tomorrow night's Nuck vs Leafs game?
UPDATE: Looks like Mad Mike won't be on HNIC or NBC Sport in the immediate future.

Hockey analyst Mike Milbury defended himself Saturday following allegations he got into a physical confrontation with a youth hockey player.
Milbury, who appears regularly on CBC and NBC hockey broadcasts, hasn’t been charged with a crime for the incident in Brookline, Massachusetts, but an investigation is ongoing. It’s alleged Milbury confronted a 12-year-old player who had got into an altercation with Milbury’s son during a minor hockey game.
According to Milbury version of events, he stepped in to break up the dispute between the two children.
“I want to be clear about a couple of things,” Milbury told the Boston Globe on Saturday. “No one was punched, kicked, or assaulted in any way. I know the ‘Mad Mike’ image that I have and all that. I love the game, I’m passionate about it, but I don’t smack kids around. I grabbed the other kid by the sweater to stop a fight and, yeah, I swore at him. That’s it. That’s what I did.
“And ... this was also after watching my kid get verbally bullied by the other player for over two hours. It was the third time that night that (Milbury’s son) Jake and the kid got into it, and that was the last straw for Jake. I mean, what kid can take that?”
Milbury, a panellist on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, wasn’t on the program Saturday and host Ron MacLean said his legal situation wouldn’t be discussed on the broadcast.
During his playing career in the 1970s and ’80s, Milbury never shied away from rough play. He once famously entered the crowd at Madison Square Garden during a brawl and hit a fan with a shoe. That incident came to the forefront during the youth hockey squabble.
“The last thing (the other player) said to Jake was, ‘What are you going to do now, tough guy, hit me with a shoe?’ ” Milbury told the paper. “Thank you, YouTube.”
