I recently spot a truck at a ford dealership, a 2011 Ford f150, with 15,000km on it, 5.0L engine, nav., rear camera, and so on....
BUT, it is a daily rental truck. price comes down to $39,000, including tax.
im not quite familiar with truck, any suggestions?
Thanks!

Both have their pros and cons.
All you can do is get it inspected, make sure everything checks out. If it does and the price is right, then why not? Then keep up on the maintenance once its parked in your driveway.
A former rental is a deal that could go either way as you have no real clue of what the renters put it through.

Treat a rental car as you would any used car, advises Bob Aiken, a former National Association of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) master mechanic. "Find an independent shop that you trust and pay to have the car inspected," he suggests. "Even if you have to walk away from the deal, it is money well spent."
Rental Returns
Tim Walsh, senior vice president of Enterprise Car Sales believes, of course, that rental cars are better and more reliable than any other used cars.
"They go through regular checkups and service maintenance throughout their life in our rental fleet," he notes. Vehicles move from Enterprise's rental fleet to its sales lots when they are one- to two-years old and have between 15,000 to 30,000 miles, Walsh says. And all vehicles go through a rigorous inspection before being offered for sale. "Those are done by independent, ASE-certified technicians, not our own mechanics," he adds.

I refuse to believe that rental outfits put more money into their fleet than necessary to keep them running. Scheduled maintenance, my ass. As such, I would never take the risk on a former rental vehicle. Besides, who doesn't beat the hell out of their rentals?

thank you all!!
I believe it's a consumer daily rental truck.
The car's condition is really not my concern, as you said, i will get it inspected. Plus, in the worst case, i still have the bumper to bumper ford warranty.
I just feel the deal is not good, as it does not really reflect the aspect that it is a rental truck.
it has to be lower, compared to 39K.....
again, thx all!

Find out the price of a new Lariat and compare.
If $39 is the tax in price as you mentioned that sounds like a really good deal. (If its 4x4)
The f150s go in for service every 8000k so aslong as the oil has been change once you should be good to go after a good inspection.
Generally when I was searching XLT's were 28-32g, Fx4 32-35, Lariat 35+ all before taxes. Seems like that ones a loaded Lariat too.

Yes, it is loaded with many features, Nav., heated chairs, back camera, and so on.....
I searched alot, and only found very few comparables, except a really close one that has the same price with same kilometers, but a 6.2L(bigger, vs 5.0L) engine, and same features. So, I guess it is a nice deal, however, the name "daily rental" should bring another few thousands down, otherwise it makes no sense for me to choose that truck over other "regular" used ones.
I think i may ask for the maintainance history of that truck to figure out if the rental company really take "standard" care of that truck, if the dealership can't produce that, chances are i will let it go. I won't take the chance of driving a truck without a singe oil change in 15000km, from the 0 km. lolz
anyway, thx for your reply. cheers

you may be comparing this truck to other off-daily rentals, and not realize. You may have simply discovered the one dealer that discloses the fact that it was a rental before the 11th hour of paperwork signing... if ever.
If you are looking at vehicles with 15K, you're going to see several rentals whether you know it or not. Get your own UVIP

Good Point! thx!
I have found quite few trucks around the 15k on them, I already paid extra attention on them, carproof, UVIP, maintainance history, and so on.
