Anyone have a hook up or know of a deal. There's four of us for my kids hockey tournament. Never been to London before so not sure what's suitable.

playing at Western Fair Sports Centre

Stayed at the Hampton in November for a wedding...Nice place and includes hot breakfast.
There were some hockey teams staying there that weekend.

Phone the hotel direct and you should be able to get it for under a 100 a night

priceline, 4 star, $50 would most likely get you something.

Hampton looks good, pool is a bonus.

I dl priceline app. Never used them but not sure I like how I don't know where I'm staying. Must Google to find out more.

I would also checkout Priceline or Hotwire. Have a look at betterbidding first before you bid on priceline. The highest star rating with Priceline is 3.5* and that will get you the Hilton or Delta Armouries downtown. This category is available to bid on for the family day long weekend.

With a little bit of basic research you can find where you're looking for. You choose the area you want to stay in. In London, each specific area probably has 1 or 2 4 star hotels, so you would be staying at either Hilton or Sheraton (for example). At the end of the day, you are guaranteed your rating and your area, just not the name of the hotel. if you like staying in 5 star hotels for 2 star prices, thats's the option for you.

Ok, got it. So if It's rated 4 star and I get my price in that area, than I'm safe. Not gonna get a dump somewhere else.

Worth it then.

Best Western Lamplighter Inn would be a good choice especially with kids as they have an indoor pool, so the kids won't be bored. It is on Wellington road, a short drive from Western Fair.

Use the site, not the priceline app. Give lots of time to start bidding low. Will easily get under $80 unless its a huge tourney

Ok, thanks guys. Good to know that site is better than the app if I go that route.

The app is clunky - I couldn't get it to do the name your own price right, much easier to visualize on the PC.

As for priceline, just stay above 1 star and you'll be fine - even the 2 stars and 3 stars are holiday inns, etc. - they aren't bad at all and you can get them bloody cheap. I usually start at about $35 (remember it is in american dollars and taxes + fees added) so it ends up at around $50. As I figured out in the other thread, I've stayed 27 hotel nights last year, with probably 50% of them priceline and haven't paid more then $80 for prime locations in big cities. It's a beautiful thing :-)

Thanks. That site is great. It's good to know what hotels you might get.

Booked the delta armouries for $80. I hope It's close and a decent place to stay.

The Delta is right downtown and in a cool older building (hence the "armouries"). They have an indoor heated pool in a neat area.
Can't comment on the rooms as I've never stayed, but have gone there for a few buffet dinners and the food was always good.
Parking may be a little pricey.

Very short drive to the Western fair. The hotel is just on the eastern side of downtown -- a little further east on Dundas and it's not such a nice neighborhood.

There is a Crabby Joes across the street. If you would like any recommendations on restaurants let me know. There are quite a few downtown, depending on what you are looking for.

I had food poisoning twice from Crabby Joes.

Relish Burgers (http://www.relishhamburger.com) would hit the spot after hockey. Also featured on You Gotta Eat Here.

Good choice on Armouries. Rooms are clean, staff are courteous.

Agree that it certainly wouldn't be my first choice of restaurant. I've never been. Was just offering something closeby chainwise to the OP.

The Works also has (relatively) newly opened location downtown. Along the same lines as Relish (but better IMO).
It's on King, close to the JLC within walking distance if it were me. Otherwise a 3 minute drive.

Ok thanks. Weather permitting would prefer to walk. Tire kids out too.
