No idea what they like except "not pizza". Tried getting some opinions on what they like but its all 'whatever'.
So without any other requirements, where would you take two 14 year old girls?

They don't like pizza? What kind of 14 year-olds are these?
Take 'em someplace reasonably generic like Moxie's, Kelsey's, or The Pickle Barrel. There should be enough variety on the menu that they can find something tolerable.

man, trying really hard to not make any pedobear reference.
how about dimsum? or korean bbq?
hot pot or shabushabu would be good too I think, because it is interactive, so it might save you from making small talk.

Hibiscus Café (http://ilovetoronto.com/restaurant-reviews/healthy-eating/2012/01/hibiscus-toronto-gluten-free-crepes) is a really great choice, especially for healthy and diet´s foods. There are very delicious foods such as bread, soup, and ice cream. You can choose from savoury or sweet crêpes; the former are mostly made with vegetables like spinach, mushroom, and tomato paired with cheese, while the latter are fruit-based with additional flavouring, like apple, pear, and kiwi with cinnamon.

Most places you like to go...
Our kids (12 & 14) love Cora's, Jack Astor's, Alice Fazzoli's, The Keg, Mandarin, Red Lobster, Pickle Barrel, Dave & Buster's, Boston Pizza, Wild Wings... they love teppanyaki and sushi restaurants.

I was about to say that 14 is fair game but I double checked and the gov't changed it in 2008...wtf this is an outrage!
The age of consent for sexual activity is 16 years. It was raised from 14 years on May 1, 2008 by the Tackling Violent Crime Act.

When I was 14 I used to go to fine dining places with either my friends or parents.
A steakhouse??
Actually something affordable and fun is one of those buffets where they serve you at your table. cheaper if you go at lunch too?
There is some buffet place where I live where you cook your own food- that might be fun!

I think Pickle Barrel with it's almost-too-big menu is appropriate here...

+1 for recommendation of Teppanyaki. Tasty and safe for any palate especially teenagers....plus they get a show. Ask the "chef" to do the onion Volcano.
Tako Sushi is pretty good for this.
Another alternative, if they're meat eaters is Greek on the Danforth. I go to Astoria.

The tongue in cheek answer is Lolita's Lust...
The real answer is depends on what they like and what they are used to: someone with no exposure to restaurants or other cultures might like an Earls, Moxie's, Joey's etc. On the other end of the spectrum our kids (ok boys in this case) love Dim sum, Sushi, Indian, Roti, French, Seafood...take them to the above mentioned and it would be ho hum.
It also depends on situation. Are you going to the movies? Just dinner? A night at the theatre? At 14 my parents took me to the Okeefe or Pantages and we'd go out for a nice upscale dinner. Doesn't have to be expensive: Note Bene downtown.
Now, a good question might be to find out if they are vegetarian...

Well the friend had to cancel but I took the little sis-in-law out still. We ended up going to Hockey Sushi for AYCE after hearing Wolverine post about it so many times here.
I will keep the other suggestions in mind for next time. I was thinking take them somewhere like Joeys or something and let them eat on their own...I can take a seat at the bar. That way I don't feel so creepy checking out the hot waitresses in miniskirts.

Ha, yeah, why not sit and talk to your guests :)
How was the sushi? Did they like it?

Hmm, I didn't think it was weird. I was thinking that when I was a kid (okay, a little kid....I'm just a big kid now), if a parent or guardian was taking us out, it would be more fun to have our own table where we can talk about whatever.

Actually it was pretty good, I liked the place a lot. Very fast bringing out food and no mistakes. Although I thought the quality of the fish was poor, I was impressed with their tempura, their speed, politeness, and although I don't really like their maki fillings that much, I like that they don't put too much rice. For the sushi, they were also nicely sized and shaped, and their rice was pretty good also. Oh yeah and the ikura was good...I ate a lot of ikura (sushi only).
We had a nice time. Will try it again sometime however there is one ayce on chowhound called "big meal" that has decent reviews so I will probably try that one next when the urge to eat a ton comes up again.
