the title makes me think of that Seinfeld episode:

George: The jerk store called and they are running out of you!
Reilly: What does it matter, you are their all-time best seller!

Zing!

Sorry, offtopic....but wow, seems like a lot of dt land is being bought up for condo development...soon there won't be any restos left and all there will be are condoes!

Different side of the street.

I wonder where the BMO will be moving to?

Different side of the street.

I was talking about the gentrification of the intersection.

Let's see what they plan do with the S/E corner first. Dunno if the area is really a candidate for high-rise condos quite yet.

Probably not highrises. Factory and loft conversions with small towers are the trend for that neighbourhood.

Eastern and Broadview has a bunch of low rise condos popping up... and down the street on Carlaw has been prime real estate for conversions and new development.

I've actually lived in the area my entire life and wouldn't mind seeing Jilly's gone. I was on the streetcar a couple weeks ago and saw some cop cars surrounding the place and this was the result:

I always felt the New Edwin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Edwin_Hotel) could've been an east-side Drake (it's now "transitional housing" for homeless men aged 55+) and the building housing Jilly's could've been a Gladstone equivalent (I guess it theoretically still could be).

Gentrification of this area was inevitable and it was only a matter of time before places like the Real Jerk and Woodgreen Fish and Chips (http://www.blogto.com/restaurants/woodgreen) (my favourite fish & chips place growing up - now a cookie-cutter sushi restaurant) would vacate.

Been there once in past decade. Food was okay. Prices were medium.

Used to be hard to find a jerk place that was actually sit-down versus takeout (Mr. Jerk, Albert's Real Jamaican). Now there's a few more choices.

Ate here once a couple of years back.

Food was okay. I ordered the Jerk chicken just to see how "real" it was.

It was okay.

I have had better (both commercial restaurants and family friends)

I wonder if they are going to relocate..

Guy talking on 1010am right now. Here is a link to a petition they started:

Think new owners should have given him 6 months to relocate.
