Anyone have one of these, any comments or reviews from the forum? I looks like a nice product and the asking price isn't cheap but nor is it completely outlandish.

I want to get one for hiking and backpacking. It would seem to leave the camera exposed to the weather and elements for too long so I'd probably wat a rain/dust cover to go with it.

I was one of the first backers when it was launched on Kickstarter, so I got one of the early units. I have been using it since August and love it.

I taken it to Algonquin for a week as well as done day hikes without any issues. I would say it doesn't put your gear at risk anymore than a neckstrap. That said, if it is going to be dusty or rain, then common sense would dictate you would want to protect your gear as best you can.

The product is very well made and really easy to use. Do your self a favour and buy one...you wont regret it. They are very well made and I think they are fantastic value for money.

I also ride a bike and have used it with my T1i/55-250 lens without problem. If I would make a negative comment, on a bike your arms are quite close together, and having the the camera mounted on a backpack strap on your chest is tricky. The camera can dig into your upper arm, so you do have to experiment with with positioning. Mine works great now, and I don't have a problem. I don't think you will have the same issues if you are just hiking.

I still get facebook updates and they do have offers from time-to-time. Not sure what your timing is, but you may want to wait to see if any new offers come out. They were discounted for black Friday ($50?) and had free shipping over Christmas, although I think you need to buy 2 right now to get free shipping.

Let me know if you need any other info.

Cheers...
STEVE

I have a similar clip system from Spider and very happy with it, it is the only way I perfer to carry my camera.

However, it works better on a belt.

Thanks for the info... I learned about the product via a link from the SmugMug facebook page, and there's going to be an affiliate/promotion between SMugMug and Peak Design. So I'll see how much of a deal that might be, and otherwise look to see where else I might get it. My near term need is in two weeks when I head to Australia, so I don't think I'll be able to get it by then unless I have it shipped to Buffalo. Which I might well do..
