I'm sure everyone here loves to save a buck and drinking beer, but how do you find the best one at the best price?

I would love to be involved in a blind taste test between beer produced with a Mr. Beer kit, Brewers Market kit, Mister Beer Bottle Brew, some craft brews and even a number of National brands.

Do you know anyone who would be willing to organize it?

I'll bring the Mister Beer Bottle Brew

If we have reps from Mr. Beer kit and Brewers Market kit that would bring their products that would be great as well.

I can't see anyone from the National brands that would be willing to bring their products, but you never know.

I'm prepared to pay for the National brands that the group decides are appropriate.

I would suggest 4-5 flavours of each in a head to head....sounds like it would be a blast.

I'm sure we can find a bar or restaurant willing to host it for us, especially in late Jan or early Feb, when they're not very busy.

Somewhere in west GTA would be ideal for me. The cab ride won't be too expensive

Anyone willing to volunteer to organize it?

Why don't you organize it yourself? This would be a good promo event for your product. Even if Mister Beer Bottle Brew doesn't win, it might still convince enough people to give it a try for themselves.

We can, but we don't people to think that we are tainting the results in any way. If the organizers are totally independent, it has a lot more credibility.

Perhaps a restaurant or bar would like to organize it. Would be a great way to fill the joint in the middle of winter when business is a little light. Know anybody?

I would vote for somewhere in Missisauga or Oakville so it's not too far from a ton of people.

So hire an auditor :)

Anyhow the point isn't really about winning, it's about introducing people to your product who wouldn't normally try it otherwise. If it really is any good, they won't care if you win or not.

Do you know what auditors cost?

It would be cheaper to just give away 100 cases.

What would you rather have?

Hire me! (I've been thinking of freelancing anyways).

But seriously, if you're willing to go with a small independent outfit (say a sole prop or similar) you can easily get someone for around $50-100 an hour. They may even do it for free as a networking op.

Why not?

there might be a special exception for 'tasting', but as far as i know, there cannot be free alcoholic drinks at bars by law.

It doesn't have to be free. They can sell tickets to the event that includes a certain number of glasses included with admission, not unlike the wine and cheese show.

The testing glasses can be roughly 1/10 of a regular glass which would be plenty for tasting. You can try 20 different beers and only drink the equivalent of 2 beers. Have a meal at the same time and nobody gets stupid.

Hmmm - I'd be in for that - especially if I get to meet Duckydown and Ipponema face-to-face!

I'm working with a pub in Brampton that might be able to host it the first or second week of Feb.

Please post to let us know if that would be convenient for you and how many of your friends you would be bringing?

You might be right. Our stores in Whitby and Oshawa, sell a ton more than our west end stores.

Anyone care to do some organization for an event? Someone know a pub or restaurant that could host it?
