Having owned a Wii and found it boring pretty quick and sold it, I thought Kinect would be just another rip off of it. I recently bought a used Xbox and it came with a Kinect. Upon trying it, I was pleasantly surprised! It does everything you could do with a Wii but so much more. I downloaded a bunch of demos and a lot of the games were actually pretty fun.
What are some Kinect games you would like to recommend?
Kinect Sports looked promising. Which of the Dance games are the best?
Let's get a good discussion going pertaining to Kinect.

I would definitely recommend Dance Central 1 and 2. I find the first one to be easier to play and master, and the songs are probably more appropriate for a wider audience. The second one has more of a pop/hip hop soundtrack, and is a bit more difficult, but it also has a better implementation of two-player modes via the coop and dance battle modes, and a much more detailed break-it-down mode to allow you to practice your moves.
Child of Eden is pretty fun too - it's easy to get into the game, even if the story and premise is hokey and new-agey. The game can be beaten in a couple hours.
I really want to pick up the Gunstringer (it also comes with Fruit Ninja) - It's made by a developer that makes hilarious (and fun) games. I'm just waiting for it to drop in price a bit.

Kinect Sports 1 and Dance Central were easily the top games of Kinect at launch. Dance Central improved with Dance Central 2 with adding 2 player gameplay but Kinect Sports Season 2 kind of dropped the ball in terms of sports selection and overall gameplay. The highlight of it was Darts and when Darts becomes the top game of a lineup featuring sports like Tennis, football, and baseball, there's definitely something wrong about that. I'd pass on Sports season 2.
Dance games wise, I actually find Just dance 3 more fun than Dance Central 2. Think of it like this:
Dance Central 2 are for those that actually want to learn to dance and have fun at doing it.
Just Dance 3 is for a wider audience where it is definitely more forgiving and provides up to 4 players.
Both have great song selection and great DLC.
One game I regret not purchasing yet is Child of Eden but that's only due to my current backlog. I'll wait until it hits $10 as right now it sells for $20 at most retailers.
I'm looking forward to how Kinect Star Wars turns out. It looked very mediocre during E3 which is probably why it has been delayed until Mid 2012. I hope they improved upon the gameplay and motion sensing and it can definitely be a top Kinect title.
What I'm waiting for is a game to implement the Kinect the way Infinity Blade implements touchscreen functioning. I can see it being very fun hacking and slashing with precision and dodging and blocking attacks. Now that'd be cool.

Gunstringer is great, Dance Central 1+2 are fun.
The Konami dancing game, Dancemasters is pretty bad, mostly based on the music selection but the dancing is not nearly as good as Dance Central.

volleyball on kinect sports 1 is so much fun, we would play it for hours and and would be soaked in sweat after it.
I also really enjoyed Carnival games, it got bad reviews so i rented it from the libraby, we played it non stop for a week.
Handball on the adventure game is quite fun also.
I found child of eden boring, wipeout sucked, The brain one was boring also.

Subcribed. Good thread idea.
Still don't own a game console, but want to know if you guys think that xbox is the best (in terms of game selection, quality, prices-out of PS3, wii, etc), factoring and not factoring the Kinect ftn? Thx.

All of the above (though didn't like Gunstringer or COE), and Kung Fu Insanity. It's a pretty fun game to play at a party and while the gameplay is simple and the mechanics not the best, seeing yourself as the character on the screen makes up for it.
I also like Just Dance 3, even though it only tracks hand movements (smells like a Wii port to me) and not full body like DC.

I think in terms of everything Xbox 360 is hard to beat. I don't want this thread to spiral into yet another xbox vs. PS debate.

Fruit Ninja is popular amongst people trying out my Kinect. Leedme is pretty fun too, can be downloaded and been under the radar from most people. Demo is free so worth trying it.

Did Dance Central 2 just increase in price?
I was keeping an eye on the price on Amazon.com and it seemed to have jumped from $29 to $37.

My daughter's loving Once Upon a Monster - and I have to admit, I've chuckled at the writing several times, things which have gone over her head.

I think it says in the manual that on normal mode, the game tracks your face, hands, chest and feet?

So, I don't currently have a Kinect, but was thinking about obtaining one IF people truely enjoy the system. Right now, it is $149.99, I missed all the Xmas specials, wasn't interested then, and AFAIA, you cannot rent the Kinect? So, I don't want to spend that much money on this as I do not have a new xbox with the K port.
I need some information from owners of the product, is it truely worth $150 in terms of enjoyment and what is the best (lowest) price to wait out for?

If you can wait, I'd try to get it at the price they had it during the holidays, with those bundled games included. It only gets used a lot at our house if we have a bunch of friends over. I don't play games as much as I did before so if I do play, I'd rather catch up on my backlog than fire up the kinect. It really depends on the type of gamer you are and where your interests lie.

That's a truly subjective question as everyone is different when it comes to how much $150 of money is worth to them. I would say Kinect adds a very different dimension to your Xbox gaming and that it is very good to have when you have a bunch of friends over who are bored.

Thanks, if I can get one BNIB for $100, I'll jump on it next time around.
