Hey guys,

I am looking for an inexpensive headphone/earphone to use when I workout. It will be a combination of cardio and weight lifting. Could you recommend me some. I was thinking of just going with the stock iPhone earphones I have but then thought it would probably fall out when I'm running.

I've been an "in-ear" style user for ages and never been happy with them at the gym. I recently flopped over to this pair (http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/rocketfish-rocketfish-hd-stereo-bluetooth-headphones-rf-mab2-rf-mab2-t/10138718.aspx?path=7529440842a63026c2569b8fc01dfdc 2en02) (thanks to a hot deals post). I thought they'd suck, but I absolutely love them. So if you've been putting up with in-ear ones, I'd try these behind the head "street style" ones on for size. The particular model I linked to is a bluetooth set which means no wire to constantly snag on while running either.

I use the Motorola S9-HD.

There connected to your device via bluetooth, so most smartphones and audio players/iPods will work.

Best part of the headphones? It has volume, audio (next/prev/play/pause), and phone controls on the side of the earbuds. I've had them for 2 years, and there working great.

They work great when doing cardio on the elliptical and weight training that doesn't involve your head against "padding". They fit well to the face. The issue is that the back piece is behind your head. No worries however, you can just flip them on the otherside of your face, but your Left is in the right ear and etc.

Love the product however...

Again it depends on the user, but I have never had any problems with the standard iphone earbuds: they don't come out when on a treadmill or exercise bike. I never have a problem with them when using any weights or machines.

Personally, I like to wear a hat at the gym, so the over the head earphones don't really suit my needs (also don't want bulky over the ear...I have a great Bose set for home/plane use).

Before going out to buy something, try out what you have first.

at my gym, few people if any use bulky headphones.

+1. I have the "P" versions which lets me fast-forward through my playlist without fishing my phone out of my pocket. The memory wire helps the earphones stay put. And I'm not sure if other brands have this feature, but the MEE's have a clip for the wire that I use to get the wire out of the way. MEE's go on sale a lot, so you just have to keep an eye out.

Thanks for the input guys. I am looking into the meele earphones. Only thing that is not persuading me a lot to buy it is the fact that they are earbuds.

Do you know any other type of earphones that are not earbuds? Like the iphone earphones.

Why don't you just try the stock earphones you have and see how comfortable/how secure they fit when you work out?

i just got a cheap pair of Sony earbuds just for this purpose:

they're cheap (they go on sale regularly)
they have the ear hook so they wont fall out
the cord is short enough for an ipod shuffle, but has an extension if you need it longer

I am no expert on earbuds I have to admit. But when I was in Taiwan during the Christmas holidays, I went into an Apple store and I asked what earbuds that they would recommend for running which won't pop out easily.

They recommended an in-ear solution ( IEM: In Ear Monitor ) by a company called RedGiant: http://www.theredgiant.net/products
It works very well and I don't have any issues with these falling out at all. I run about 5K 3 times during the weekdays and 2X10K runs on the weekends. It gets the job done.

I like Sennheiser CX380. I prefer the brand personally. They have different choices for sport (in-ear). You might only be able to find the CX380's on ebay though.
