I've been waiting for this to open too. According to the mall contact Margot, they don't have a specific date yet but they are talking some time in March.

I've heard good things about Mr. Congee which is located at Bridalwood mall.

I think I'll go there next time I visit my parents

There's a congee queen opening at Agincourt Mall?! Might go there when it opens, although the Don Mills location is pretty close by too.

Is this the same chain as the one on Don Mills and Steeles?

I ordered a Satay Chicken with Mango Salad for takeout from there on Fri night, and we were shocked when we got home how small the portion of mango salad part there was. We ordered this item before and knew what we were getting. I called them to let them know and apparently the owner had changed the salad part of this item to 1/4 of the size of the orginal portion size. It is $10 for 2 satay sticks and 8-10 strips of thinly sliced mango. Go figure?

2nd time this place has dissapointed us in our last 2 visits, wondering if it's slipping. They also had a conditional pass at the Lawrence location.

Is Congee Queen, Congee Wong, and Congee Star all owned by the same person(s)?

Every restaurant that I've ever had any sort of mango salad at the portion size was small.

It was small, but was served as a side dish before, the cashier that answered the phone knew of the situation. She emphasized with me even saying the portion was bigger up until 2 months ago.

Congee Queen is way over-rated now these days. When it first opened many years ago (Lawrence location), their portions were very big and good value for the money. Food quality was above average but it has came down a lot in the last couple of years.

In one instance, I ordered congee with groupa (Steeles location) and I can only see two small chucks of fish and since then never went back there again. I now go to Congee Star (Don Mills/Eglintion).

I have to agree, the last 2-3 times we have gone, it was just okay. One time we went for congee and the seafood wasn't fresh, too fishy, and the roasted pork was from the day before. It was one of my favorite go to chinese places, but lately their quality has gone down.

I have to agree also. They no longer use large shrimp for their congee.. quality went down, and prices went up.

Yes, They did raise prices, as much as a dollar on some of my mainstays. Usually you would expect this to offset the portion size but quality has gone down as has portion size.

A lot of places stop delivering for the day when it's 30 to 60 minutes before closing.

Wow so much hate on Congee Queen (Steeles). I go there all the time and the portions are still more or less as big as when we first discovered Congee Queen (3+ years ago) when it comes to fried rice, congee, noodles, etc. Only things that have shrunk are the specialty dishes like sweet and sour pork, etc. Those were never big from the beginning. Food quality is still very good in our opinion. My neighbours agree as well.

Gave up on congee queen a couple years ago. Just didn't think it was good. congee Wong was cheaper and I like it better.

The Singapore turnip cake is one of my favorite dishes in Toronto and loved the congee queen version a few years ago. had a bad version 2 or 3 times and thats when it got the axe for good.

Congee Wong version of the dish is not bad.

Congee Queen Is the only place I can go for a nearby fix of Chinese, Lol.

It's alright I would think but as for the portion and quality I'm not sure as I haven't been to any other locations.

Been to the location on McCowan and 7th. Still like the food except the fried rice. Have tried different type of fried rice and they all taste very similar. The Yeung Chow fried rice only comes with a few small shrimp and couple of BBQ pork and they charge $8.25 which is a total ripoff. Have ordered pick up many times. One time ordered honey chicken wings and only received 6 pieces instead of 8 pieces. Another time ordered regular congee and the bowl was only 3/4 full, exactly one inch below the top of the rim. Don't know if the kitchen stalff ate it or as per ordered from the owner. I still like the restaurant but don't like how they do business. Is it because they have expended to the next store and we have to paid for it?
