I'd rather not have this because it may put those who didn't vote for someone - or someone who voted for someone no one else likes/likes very little - in an uncomfortable position. RFD has enough ugly weird tiffs as it is.

It may be difficult, but I'd rather have the former option (the IP check) than the latter.

I like the idea of winning (who doesn't?), but I don't consider anything I've "done" so far - my signature in particular - to be indicative of me being "serious" (re: driven) about winning this contest. Oranr, in a (another?) thread, said he was going to do an IP check on all the votes. At this point, it may be easier to do as I suggested and excise all new accounts set up during the vote period and for whom the very first (or one of the very first) actions done was to vote in this poll. Either way, the poll is not ruined. It'll take some work but is salvageable.

To me as per my understanding he is up there for 4 possible psychological reasons.

1. People are voting for him because just for the kicks since they want him to win for lulz.
2. People are voting for him because they genuinely found him helpful outside the OT.
3. People are voting for him because they find him the best among the worst.
4. People are voting for him because they find him an underdog against a powerful competetion backed by aggressive lobbying just like how people detest politicians with deep pockets because they doesnt seem to connect.

I agree with what you're saying Mr. P. I don't think Yao's setting up the votes, but someone certainly was for a while. Everytime 45ED got a vote, Yao got a vote, they were kept tied for a long time.
