Why not just eat some real food?
1 slice whole wheat toast + peanut butter.
1 hour before the gym.

I've tried a couple and in my opinion the best one I've tried is PHD Wired. It doesn't really get you too wired and become all twitchy like the other Preworkouts. If you want one that'll make you push yourself to the limits every single workout, try Razer8, I wouldn't drink this one after 5pm though if you want to sleep that night, specially when you're not used to taking preworkouts.

ive tried NOxplode and super pump. NOxplode gave me jitters and super pump didnt work too well for me but i hear jack3d is really good but has some sport illegal enhancment drug.
you could also try making your own preworkout by buying some of the raw supplements they put into preworkouts.

That's important for sure ... but the OP is looking for recs about getting stimmed out before a workout! :D
For me, I use PWO powders to help me get the most of my time in the gym (so i'm not wasting my time, unmotivated). One could simply just buy some caffeine pills and take 200-300mg 30min-1hr before a workout on a relatively empty stomach with a ton of water.
I've used Controlled Labs White Flood (works well and seemingly good value), Superpump (no GI issues for me, works well but you have to use quite a bit IME), NoXplode (orange flavor is strange but it seems to work), some other stuff that has the Dimeth stuff in it, which worked well but pharmacist friends would bug me about erectile dysfunction and such (lol, never a problem with me).
As with any products with stimulants (caffeine being the common ingredient) if you have a high tolerance because you drink coffee all the time it - you will have to adjust accordingly. So, on workout days maybe skip the morning coffee or whatever. You're body attenuates to caffeine very quickly (at least for me). One may have to reduce coffee intake significantly in order to get a buzz. Or, just drink a freakin' huge bowl of coffee before a workout, that'll do the trick.
If you want to read up all things supplements and check out anecdotal opinions then go to bodybuilding.com forums "supplement wars"

I'm using NO shotgun now and it gave me an insane pump the first week I used it. Now it just gives me more energy and mental focus, which is good. BUT it really messed up my sleep cycle. Mind you that I was never a coffee drinker so introducing my body to a stimulant like this might have shocked my body. The grape bubblegum flavour is good.
P.S I've heard that White Flood is good.

If you’re eating a healthy diet and getting enough calories to support your activity level, you can probably rely on your own appetite, energy levels, and experience to tell you whether you need to eat anything before or after exercise and what it should be. The basic rule here is: Find out what works best for you, and do that.

If you want a good "pump" product, look at trying Thermolife P-Bol, iForce Hemavol or Controlled Labs White Flood v2.

What's the difference between these products and caffeine pills? What additional values do u get besides increased energy?

I think some have small amounts of creatine?
Any benefit of taking a b12 pill before a workout? Someone told me to try that

They help with endurance and also contain things like creatine and/or citrulline. White Flood is extrmeely cheap, and by cheap, I mean extremely cost effective. 1 scoop has around 130mg of caffeine.

Hemavol contains a hefty dose of B12.
