^^^ + 1 000 000

Thank you Oranr for resurrecting the contest. It could not have been an easy task - especially if you didn't have much to go with. But a lot of people, myself included, appreciates everything you've done.

I mean this sincerely.

But, yeah, even through there were a few ...."hiccups" in the running of this contest, it was exceptionally interesting. So though people might have a few issues about it, they are issues that can be avoided next time around. Because with what notes you have, the known problems that were encountered, and whatnot, you and others can now develop an even better plan.

There is nothing that cannot be fixed, guys. From this contest, RFD can make the next one better.

Which is to say, the next one will be better!

Hated on by Yao but respected by everyone else.

The first part is surely true, but I don't know if I can agree with the second part of the sentence, for obvious reasons. Since it's a direct call-out, it's no better than the "hated on but respected" line that the real trolls use, honestly.

A belated congrats, either way.

There are two parts to the phrase in Yao's signature. I wanted something to go with the second one much like how I made something for the first part (Hated on x but respected y). Even I know it's not perfect, but it's good for something made on short notice (re: right after the contest closing).

I feel the underlying essence of the Favourite Off-topic Poster category "contest" deserves commemoration (which is what I was trying for). But I understand where you're coming from, Korruption. I think I've found an edited, middle-ground solution.

Note, again, that the last version was a short notice, spur-of-the moment creation. This one took a bit longer and is somewhat better. Perfect is beyond my ability. ;)

Hey onrar, great job in organizing and preparing the member awards. However, I believe the polls were rigged (especially the Off-topic poster of the year)... I've noticed 45ED gained about 9 votes within the last half hour before the poll closed. Yao416 also received about 5 votes within that half hour. The problem with these polls is you don't even need a second IP address to keep voting for yourself. You just need to create another account using a different e-mail address.

Hello,

Are you still counting the ballots for 'Moderator of the Year' ?

We are all still eagerly waiting the results.

Did you have to do a re-count of the ballots for this particular title? Is that why it is still not announced?

I was looking at the traffic during the last hour and it spiked with users. Some users waited to the last minute to vote with that being said, I do agree there may have been some shenanigans going on. Even if I made the vote public (which I should have done) there was nothing preventing users from creating new accounts and voting. I will look into a new way of doing next year!

I do have a list of the voters and will be gong through to see if I can find any newly created accounts.

I think it's best if the votes counts are closed until you have voted. I was late to the poll and I was gonna vote for MrPerfect, but since it was a clear race between Yao and 45ED, I made my choice between those two instead. TBH, neither choices have much content in their OT posts: Yao with his usual "pics?", "low content", and pupazzo-clone posts, and I don't remember the last time 45ED had an OT post worth reading. And now they're just racking up post-counts with back-and-forth bickering.

Yeah, 45ED you gotta take a chill pill and calm down a little, you're taking this a little too seriously. I made a few posts in OT a week or so back and 45ED was basically hounding me in every post/thread I made there, getting all excited over nothing. You're making indirect attacks on other people in your signature and other threads you've made/posted in over an award which is basically worthless, aside from any make-believe value you are personally attaching to it. I would suggest finding some non-RFD related activities to pre-occupy all that free time you have, it would help you bring reality into perspective a little better.

If you really want to play it fair, both of you would be disqualified as I'm sure both parties had people creating accounts for them. So in a perfect world neither of you would have won, so quit being a sore loser/sore winner. It really makes the both of you look pathetic if an internet poll means so much to either of you...there's A LOT more to life. What do you hate about 45ED's posts? And love about MrPerfect? I know 45ED isn't perfect but he still has thoughtful and intelligent posts and refrains from low content posts. Yao416's posts are annoying to read and it would bring shame to the RFD forum community to award him with "off-topic poster of the year". Overall, I feel 45ED deserved this award than anyone else.

But truth be told she was going to lose, if it hadn't been for us to bail her out in the very last minutes of poll closing. Onrar,

You've been quite silent over this issue, but the time has now come to make a decision. He/She has not only broke the forum rules by attacking others with signature, but also forged the voting system and defrauding the YellowPages group from monetary funds.

Shouldn't these types of deeds be condemned, if you allow this to happen under your nose, then there is going to be chaos and people will lose their belief in this system. I ask you kind sir, 'What kind of world would we live in, if the bad are never punished?

I'll tell you my good man, it would be a crappy world where people will lie, deceit and cheat and those who indulge in such will be laughing in the face of people like me, who have taken a daring decision to unmask the culprit, at the risk of being shunned by his friends in the chartroom and alienated.

Let me ask you another question, how can you allow this to happen?

Hello Aquamum, I see you recently joined the forums on the day that voting ends and now you make this big speech about voter fraud and you will pray for my soul ! If you read my post correctly, I said there MAY be an issue and I was looking into it. I only found 4 accounts that were created the day of and it was an even split 2 on each side of 45ED and Yao416. Now if I cancel out those votes, the end result is the same. I have no issues (except for not making the vote public) with how the polling was done. I mentioned this before that there was a spike of users, waiting last minute/second to vote for their favourites. There is not going to be a re-poll or any eliminations. Everybody needs to relax a little bit. It is hardly anything to get all fired up about. It was a friendly contest and done for you the users. If you make such a big deal about, there may not be another OT member awards next year. This silliness has gone on long enough.

I meant no disrespect to you, absolutely not my lord.
You have made your decision and she might be a winner to you and a few others but she is always going to be a loser and a cheater to me and few others who do believe me, because I was right there when this was all happening and I know the truth because I was a part of it.

Anyways please do not let your dislike for one be the cause for the other to get away, in my eyes both should have been disqualified. As many others have suggested they are not worthy enough to carry the RFD plaque. You have erred in your decision and chose to ignore the obvious Elephant in this room.
Thank you for at least listening, I know you are not a bad guy. Now please go ahead and ban me and carry on with your business.

I suppose that either your making that number up just for the sake of it ... or have a bad system in place. I've been watching the poll closely, and there was only a couple of votes on both sides within the last day, just before midnight. Yao416 was leading 74-71... but between 11:30-12AM, I've noticed these numbers climb incredibly... 45ED received 10 votes and Yao416 received 4. Are you going to tell us these were all honest last minute/second voters waiting til midnight to cast their votes? :D I sincerely doubt it.

What's the rule, even? Is it against the rules to get your (non-RFD member) friends to sign up just to vote for you, or only if you manage to get more than one vote per person?

More importantly though, does it even matter? It's some casual vote on some casual forum, it's dead and gone... if it meant something, then all of this would have been decided beforehand and it would be policed like it meant something. The way some people are acting, it's as though they think they're whistleblowing on Enron.

This is probably exactly why we don't have a "reputation" module, because all of this e-dong whacking would be going on all year rather than just for a week or so.

Holy crow. The whining, b*#ching, moaning and groaning on this issue only reinforces my belief that RFD OT is full of little kids.

Some people did wait till the end. I know I did because frankly it wasn't something that I gave much thought to, nor was I that interested but in the end I thought wth, why not. I'm sure others felt as I did.

If the integrity of the poll isn't well respected, then there shouldn't have been a members award in the first place. If you think majority of the last minute votes came from honest RFD members, you're fooling yourselves. I don't think the Admins care much about it now, but I wish they did when I first pointed it out when the polls were created. It's the principle of the matter, and using the anonymity provided by the internet to cover for yourself.

Where did the " majority of the last minute votes " come from...if not from " honest RFD members " ?

Dishonest RFD members making multiple accounts to vote for themselves or others in their favor.

This entire thread if full of lulz, passions running amok, definately a thread to include in the arcane RFD references. Something is definately fishy with the voting and I do sympathize with others on principle for getting all worked up however the contest, and then this thread shows that some people take the interwebz way to seriously and need to get out in real life.

It seems nothing more than a simple case of the alleged plotters and conspirators who supported 45ED doing a much better job of ' getting out the vote ' than the alleged plotters and conspirators who supported Yao416.;)

So, all this whining is nothing more a simple case of ' sour grapes ' on behalf of Yao416 supporters in my view.:D

And you know this for sure how? I did not realize you were made an admin on RFD and have access to see if there was something fishy.

my suggestion for next year is to ditch the gift cards, make more awards in more category and send out rfd t-shirts to winners.
