So when the package (clothing) was shipped via UPS Worldwide Express Saver it said the delivery date is Feb 2 but now since yesterday night it's not showing any delivery date and when I called UPS they said its in customs. Is there anything I can do to speed things up? I need it for this weekend and figured if it got here by today I would be extra safe. Now Im not even sure if it'll get here??? What is a approximate time for these inspections??

Go to the local US Customs office and bribe a couple of inspectors. That'll work wonders.
Aside from that, there's not much else you can do.
Good luck.

Um is that a cheap/sad attempt at a joke of bribery because it's coming from India?:|

Well, I was going to suggest you call 1-800-PRIME-MINISTER and ask him to do you a favor and speed it up, but all humor aside I guess the point we're trying to make is that there is absolutely nothing that you can do about the situation. Customs people are continually processing a flow of items coming in. They do them in the order they are received - nobody gets preferred treatment - and there's no way of knowing how backlogged they are or when your particular item in the (very large) pile is going to be reached. If you need it for this weekend you had better start thinking about alternate plans and next time you really need something by a deadline you had better order it a lot earlier - like weeks earlier so you don't run into this situation. The time it takes for customs clearance is completely unpredictable.

Um...no. A lighthearted way of saying "not a chance". Personally, I think some people may find it offensive you're stereotyping Indian officials as being corrupt by thinking anyone would even assume that... :-0

What the heck does it have to do with coming from India? The package is at US Customs. He is suggesting (jokingly) to bribe US Customs officials. That was my same thought when I saw the thread title. Customs works at their own schedule. There is no way to get to the front of the line, you just wait like everyone else does.
It seems to me that you have your own issues with India and your own bias/prejudice is shining through. Why wouldn't you ask if his joke was because it was the US? The OP asked a stupid question and got a stupid (albeit correct) answer.

He/she actually answered your question, if you had bothered to read it. Yes I did read it, but the other comments were not necessary. I simply asked if anything could be done to speed things up  If the answer was no, then there was no need for those sarcastic comments.

You never clearly indicated, but was this package coming to you in South Ajax from India? If so, why was it being held by US Customs?
Normally, UPS would clear the item coming into Canada if you did not have a broker to clear Canada Customs and charge a fee for that clearance as discussed on many threads on RFD. In those cases US Customs would not be involved, unless there was something suspicious about the contents.

The key here is to blame Canada Post.

UPS hubs are in the US, and most of the packages will be routed via there. And on US soil, I suppose US Customs has the right to inspect packages that are even in transit.
