How can you guys enjoy the boring, mindless, linear operating system that is iOS...
This is insane. It's like buying a new computer every 12 months. The OS doesnt change, but the hardware gets just a little better...

Yeah this is what prompted me to switch to Android after using iPhones for 3 years.. I can't believe how much I've been missing out on.. and I also can't believe how I spent 2 years tolerating iPhone's ridiculously awful notification system prior to iOS4!! How did the phone even sell with such a major oversight? I couldn't even hang up the phone if I got text messages during my call because I had to dismiss them all first.

Doesn't matter if you're an iPhone fan or not, it should be one of the only phones you contract into, even to bounce it (sell) and buy the best android device + have cash on the side.
As for the OP, probably September / October.

The good thing about iOS is the quality of apps. I'm on a GS2 myself and I feel like a lot of apps released on both systems are more polished on the iPhone. I would have gone for the new iPhone but it looked exactly the same, and if they don't switch to at least a 4.3 inch screen I'm never going back.

Quick question.
Isn't the iPhone 4s the iPhone 5? Because it's the 5th iPhone?
1st iPhone - iPhone
2nd iPhone - iPhone 3G
3rd iPhone - iPhone 3GS
4th iPhone - iPhone 4
5th iPhone - iPhone 4s

So do you call the iPhone 3g the iphone2?
Come on its just a name. If they call it iPhone 6 it'll look stupid.

Um, no that's totally not what I'm saying, and not my point.
Come on its just a name. If they call it iPhone 6 it'll look stupid.
I just saying why would Apple call the 6th iPhone the iPhone 5? Both this and calling it the iPhone 6 will look stupid, they will probably start a new naming scheme.

Because it's just a name and not a designation which is what you're confusing. Apple internally doesn't even call it the 4S but instead refers to it as N94.
Related to naming, Apple calls the iPad 2 just "iPad" and the same with AppleTV 2 which is just "AppleTV."

Who knows if they even WILL call it iPhone 5, since it's not even out yet! Wait and see. And to answer op, it's out when it's out. But likely this fall.

Will revolutionize the way users access the internet. With apple's new revolutionary LTE technology, expect speeds averaging 20mbps, on Apple's own nationwide LTE network. Add on an apple monthly plan for as low as $60/month and enjoy blazing fast Apple spee.... err I mean LTE speeds.

Meh. the one app that I use the most (facebook) is piss poor on both platform. Polish is a bit overrated from my point of view. As long as the features are the same I don't give a flying coitus if some icons look better on one platform over the other. Personally, I feel that the slowness of innovation on iOS makes it starting to feel unpolished. Which is, as I recall, the feeling I got when blackberry started going down hill wasn't it?
