Wow... this camera is ugly... lol Really chunky. Def not pocketable, even with a jacket.

ISO quality is pretty good for a point and shoot. Bigger sensor, yes but in the end, it's still a P&S.

Comes at a whopping $800 price tag.

For someone looking for a compact camera, GF2 and X10 are better options. More bang for the buck.

Yes, by all means, if you are looking for a compact camera with a tiny 2/3 sensor, get the X10. The Panasonic GF2 looks pretty good, but the reviews say it is sort of a dumbed down GF1 with dated sensor technology. If you want a small camera with a really big sensor, I would prefer the G1X. It's larger sensor, when combined with the latest technology, virtually guarantees better Image Quality.

But it is always nice to have a choice. http://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/side-by-side?products=canon_g1x&products=panasonic_dmcgf2&products=fujifilm_x10

uhhh...the G1X is a pretty great camera and much more than a P&S.
High price? Yes, but it's new. Price will drop soon enough.
The size if the sensor alone puts it in its own quality category.

why buy this big chunk when you can buy a GF2/3, X10, NEX 5n for less money?

thats why Canon is coming out with a true ILC this summer (according to Canonrumors.com)

It is all about having options and choices. The G1X has a larger sensor and better Image Quality than all of them except the Sony NEX 5n. When you add a $850 16-80mm zoom lens to a $600 NEX 5n body you no longer have a cheap or compact option.
