Staples - charged tax on cancelled order

So I placed an order and received a call a few days later that the item was out of stock and my order would be cancelled. Today, I checked my credit card statement and there's a charge on it for the order which is the amount of the tax and environmental fee only. There is also a credit amount equal to the environmental fee. Has anyone experienced this before? I'll definitely call them up tomorrow but it seems so odd to charge me just the tax for the item.

same thing just happened to me too, they left me a msg that my order was canceled, and charged me $34.46 at the same time!! WTF!!

I had an item (phone) OOS and still got charged the EHF fee of $1 (and now you mention it, probably the tax too), but I'm too lazy to bother with such company
